Also, there seems to be general paths that they follow. Move your blind a bit off of their line of flight.
Also, I've noticed that if you do a quick-switch to binoculars while you are in the shooting position, you are not automatically lying back down again. Always bring your gun up and go into aim mode to make sure you are lying down. If you are not, they see you and spook.
Generally though, they see you about 3m from you when they are on the ground.
Oh, and spread the decoys out - if they are too concentrated and you are close to it, they will pretty much land on top of you all the time.
Yeah, they decreased the spook range when you pop out, as well as increased the effectiveness of both shotguns. Not sure why this was done - that didn't seem to be as much of an issue as everything else.
Now I'm finding it too easy to shoot them. I never had a major problem shooting them, just finding them because of the lack of an outline. Now I'm dropping 2 and 3 with one shot, and I'd much rather have a bird fly off from a bad shot than drop 3 from a good shot at one. It now feels like a kids game at the PTA carnival - where everyone wins.
In one shot or in one pass? Personally it can happen to me to kill 2 in a shot but they have to be close. I do not think I managed to kill 3 in a shot against cons.
regarding the mentioned issue from the original post:
If you are in a layout blind and Geese land directly next to you (~5 meters), they will detect you and spook off.
You can try to avoid this by putting your layout blind further away from your decoys. Some times it happens though, so good reflexes are necessary when they land this close.
With the last patch, we reduced the spooking radius so Geese should no longer spook when they are further away than 10 meters. This will give you time to place your first shot.
What probably is happening here is that Geese are fleeing due to hunting pressure.
If your hunting pressure it too high, the landed Geese will directly take off again.
We are currently discussing to change how this works for Geese.
So, if you see that hunting pressure is very high (map is full of violet areas) that might explain why the Geese are not staying on ground.
In reading that I had a bitter smile.
I can not even kill one.
For this reason I abandon the chase which frustrates me, I devote myself to other animals. Since the beginning the hunting of the soul gives me nausea, in short for me it is of the old history.
Happy hunting to all.
