Question about crossbow noise
I always have the crossbow with me carrying 300gr and 400gr for bunnies, bears, moose and deer at close range. My question is does the crossbow make more noise than say the bearclaw bow?
I notice warning calls out over 100 meters when using the crossbow. Just wondering. Thanks

Don't use a crossbow so unsure.

Now just out of curiosity are you using a fanny pack or back pack at all?

I ask as both these items raise your noise level and if you were using either while crossbow hunting it might explain this a bit?

No backpack
OK then unsure that is all I could think of sound-wise.

I remember reading somewhere that they spook more than the compound bows, due to packing a stronger punch, but still less than any of the firearms. The most silent by far is the traditional bow. Don't remember the exact radious though.

the sound from all the bows seems to be pretty equal. you will spook other deer nearby when you take one down, but it is not like a gunshot, they dont bolt and run wide eyed in terror, they know something strange just happened but they are not sure just what, how i do it is after i fire, i go right for my caller and call them back in and sure enough here they come, you can take out an entire herd with that technique.

hard to go for just the bucks when the doe's walk in and on top of you, bucks are cagey, they hesitate and hold back, so what i do is take the doe's, buck runs off, then call the buck back in and take the buck

Got to get yourself that 5 pin scope if you haven't already! I've gotten pretty decent taking things down at 70M's as that's the bottom pin about 70 M's out so not to hard to get a buck even further out!

i never liked the five pin, guess i need a thousand hours at the range to get it nailed in, but i like the single post tritium siight myself, and i pile em up left and right, but i do understand what you are saying, i never have been good at those fred bear shots, drop em at 100 + yards with a recurve, not my thing, i bring em in close and at the end of the day, we both have our stories.

it's super simple. Have a look at this and give it a try the ranges are pretty accurate. I use to stink at distance kills and now I can at least hit animals if not drop them at 70 M's

Yes, the crossbow makes more noise than the other bows but it still is nothing compared to any gun. They don't run far as a rule.

It has been my favorite go to lately. Spotted a #4 moose about 300 meters out. As I was crawling another male, bronze, came out of the bushes about twenty feet in front of me. Shot a 400 gr got right through the heart from front and dropped. If I used the 7mm or 338 it most likely would have spooked the #4 I was tracking. Does come in handy.

I think it might make a difference. Using the bearclaw I wiped out a herd of 8 white tail with the by sitting in a bush. They just kept coming back when I called them in, but recently when I used a rifle or crossbow they ran away out of call distance.

Btw, did the 420g get nerfed? Recently I've been getting flesh wounds on deer where before they instantly dropped.
