Found temporary solution to very loud winds.
Hey guys, I have found a temp solution for this issue. I am not sure if anyone else has stumbled across this yet but if you are trying to listen for animals that might be coming up on your position in the roaring wind, just enter aim mode (hold your aim while you look around) with any weapon and this will quite down the winds for you. I hope this helps.

On a side note, Wiking 5 and I have lodged a discussion in the technical issues forum regarding a strange sound issue where all of our in-game sounds seem very low (possibly from a recent patch), and it only seems to affect us in this game. If anyone has any ideas please share them in that discussion as we still have not heard from the devs regarding this issue and we could use the help.

Thank you :)

I'm slightly confused. You have an issue where the sound is too low, but look through a scope to lower the sound of the roaring wind?

Are you saying even though you have an issue with low sounds, that what wind you can hear is too loud?

Just trying to understand your situation.

Hi Pic. Sorry for the confusion. I have to crank my speakers all the way up to just below max to play this game so that i can hear things normally. This is quite frustrating because so much as a windows popup or simply forgetting to lower the sound to play a different game altogether requires a new pair of trousers lol. Before the updates i could set my sound to about halfway on my speakers and it was nice and loud. It worked perfectly before until recently when i came back after a long break from this game. Hope this helps.

The wind before my break was always loud, but so where all other sounds. Now Its as if the ingame accessible in the settings menu has sound turned down to halfway, when it clearly shows 100%.

It's not really a solution to a problem. The wind and ambient world noises are meant to be the level it's set at.

But I do use that technique of aiming, to help reduce the ambient world noise.
The foot steps of animals doesn't seem to get as reduced while aiming. It's really helped me in certain situation, when I thought I heard something.

I think it's meant to convey the sense of concentration while shooting.

I do agree that certain sounds seem muffled. Some for the callers seems much quieter then they should be. Deer bleat and roe deer caller, spring to mind.

Absolutey kaned dragon. Same with footsteps from my self and other animals. I know about the concentration mechanic and how it was meant to work (and it does work). The problem is now most people need to use this mechanic to get around the loud winds. Im off to bed guys. Thanks for replies, il check in with you all again tomorrow.

I'm still wondering:

"Are you saying even though you have an issue with low sounds, that what wind you can hear is too loud?"

Hi Pic. Yes. There are 2 issues at hand.

1. The issue where i have my speakers turned up to level 6 of 12 but the game is much quieter at this level than it used to be so i have to crank the speaker level up to 10 just to be able to hear the game at a reasonable level.

2. At this reasonable level, the wind is as loud as it was prepatch, but all other sound seem to have gotten much quieter. This includes callers, sound of my footsteps and those of animals, gunshots etc. Im thinking that the patch might have accidently lowered those sounds to the point where most people think that the wind has gotten louder ingame, whereas it might just be that people think this is the case because all other sounds are now at a lower level, making it seem like the wind is louder than ever.

Ok, thanks for explaining.

Yeah dude, thanks for coming back.
He does have a point. I can barely hear some of the callers atm.
Deer bleat, Roe deer caller. the moose caller, the predator callers. They definitely seem to be quieter.

Now I think about it, the Bison. I was hunting a herd of them, and their foot steps didn't seems as loud as before. Their footsteps, used to be as loud as the Brown bears in Medved.
You can hear those bears from a surprisingly far distance. But I could bare tell where they were or where they were coming from. One somehow managed to sneak right up behind me. I didn’t hear her until she was 5m away. Turned around and before I even got the gun up, she charged.
Those new bunnies, they are very easy to hear once I'm near them. Like surprisingly loud for their size.

Snake you might be onto something.

Is there any reason, the dev team didn't add different audio options?
Ambient world noise. Animal foot steps. Player noise. Wind.

Most likely so players wouldn't just turn everything down but animal sounds.

No probs Kaned/Pic, happy to help guys. Hopefully devs will see this and reply.

It's really just the wind and rain that are too loud. The rest of the sounds are perfect volume IMO. But wind and rain seem to have been set at 1000% the volume of every other sound. They're pretty much as loud as firing a rifle.... except very annoying because of their consistency.
