Gaming Laptops
Hi Guy & Gals

Looking for some feedback on this. Talked with my wife about replacing my current laptop as I have had some issues playing games including COTW. She OK'ed it for June or so so am starting to try and find a good laptop replacement that will also handle games well.

First off NO DESKTOPS! I travel way to much and it has to be a laptop as I take it everywhere when I travel so has to be a laptop!!!

That said looking for some feedback on laptops that are good enough to handle the games below and the price needs to be around $1,000 - $1,100 and pref on the lower end of that!!

I am digging through this laptop article at present and most seem to be around $1,000 range

https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/sub-1000-gaming-laptops

anyone had experience with any of these and plus and minus's for each?

Or does anyone have other suggestions!?

Here are some of the games I play or am looking to play in the near further as one in close to a beta release

Obviously The Hunter COTW
World of Warships
Fractured Space
Paladins
Team Fortress 2
Shadow of Soldiers (Soon to be BETA by end of year the Dev are hoping if not earlier.)

These are the ones I sort of play regularly or have installed at present. So these are the sorts of games that I play and will give you and idea what sort of system would be needed to fit the bill for most if not all.

My current one was bought before I was online gaming so just has Intel chip set rather then NVIDIA so obviously that I know I will need but other things like processor and such need some feedback on.

Thoughts and if you have a link to suggested system please share so I can check it out. One last thing no smaller then 1T drive size preferably 2T but depends on price as my current system is a 1T.

Oh one other item 17" monitor nothing smaller or larger as 17" is good size and also fits my travel bag and laptop suitcase

Thanks!

from those choices I would get this one as its the only one that has a GTX 1060

COW is a very demanding game so it needs it

Will have to see what it runs once upgraded as some parts small plus honestly screen size is too small as prefer 17" and that 15.6"

Exactly what i was going to recommend but he stipulated "17" monitor nothing smaller or larger as 17"" and my thoughts were good luck with that. I have myself been looking into laptops as well and found the Dell to be the best bang for the buck, it will run pretty much any game out there as of now.

Yeah cause I just prefer the larger screen but my bags are all geared towards my current 17" monitor so don't want to add additional cost at also having to replace bags and suitcases which could add a few hundred bucks to the shopping cost!

I own the Dell Inspiron 7577 (UHD version), It has no problems running any game I throw at it (including The Hunter Call of the Wild on Ultra settings), but it is quite heavy so may not suit your travelling purposes and the battery life isn't very long (5hrs avg - although it does quick charge).
weight isn't a huge issue (unless too heavy) as most times I am just pulling it behind me in the suitcase. I only ever carry it if smaller aircraft that won't handle my onboard bag which is rare

Nothing in that article you posted has a 17 screen and very few are going to have a 17" screen unless to dish out he cash for a Alienware 17" .
well I just started looking as we discussed it last night. And not looked fully through the article some I am sure are customizable but to what extent is the question.
This i obviously $1,300 but from the article they did list this as another that had a larger screen. Granted is more expensive but.....

https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/asus-rog-strix-gl753ve

it also says it struggles with intense games at high settings cause again it only has a 1050 card, I know the dell is a smaller screen size but it has a 1060 in it
This one says $1,200 from bestbuy but then when you clock it goes up to $1,900 so unsure on this but also another that has a 17" monitor

Well depending on price some of these is typically up-gradable if bought direct but unsure on the pricing direct as like I said just started about 30 minutes ago to look at these closer

What is the performance difference between the 1050 and 1060? Cause I was just checking best buy out and most I saw there had the 1050 with one being the 1070 they had absolutely no 1060's and the 70 was pricey

quite a difference look at this article and scroll down, GTA V and Metro Last Light are good examples of high demand games too, and its 20 fps range vs 40 fps range between the 2

I just highly recommend ya get a laptop with a GTX 1060 if its gonna be for gaming

What about the 70 is that better then the 60 or just a different item all together? Obviously more expensive but best to ask in case.

Hardest part on all this is I have to clear the banker AKA My wife HA HA :steamhappy:

the 1070 is great, its what I use now and it gets 60 - 70fps average in COTW at 1080p max detail
