Which is more rare, Diamond or Piebald/Albino?

I'm wondering because I've only come across one diamond so far (lvl 9 coyote) which I was unable to kill, but I've now found and killed 3 rare fur deer, and I've seen what I think was a rare fur bear (had blonde color to it).

Not sure how excited I should get about seeing and hunting the rare fur animals. I might just be extremely lucky. Cool thing about these hunts though is that in all 3 cases I've been unable to get the animal on my first encounter with it, but have managed to find it again, either at a later time the same day, or on the next day. The last piebald I purposely ambushed at the feed zone where I'd seen it (my original spot was right when it was taking off and wind was not in my favor).

I keep thinking that I might go back and try that diamond coyote again, but the problem with it was that it gets down wind and I can never get close without spooking it. I'm not leveled enough for scent spray. I did go back to the need zone and picked up it's tracks again, but was unable to ambush that one (I think I didn't get the time of day right).

Without question Diamond is much more rare than fur type.
Because on a hunting reserve the last thing you would want is large trophy animals (sarcasm)

i think some of this depends on what kind of hunter you are. those who know how to get diamonds will probably get them more regular.id say a albino personally is harder to come by.

There is no "knowing how to get diamonds" the animal spawn generator is random, there is no way to influence a Diamond scoring animal from it.

How many of those Diamonds were due to the scenario spawning them? Those diamond animals do not count and do not show up in your hunter log either. 5 diamonds in 230 hours is unheard of. I can bet the Moose and Red Deer you have are scenario spawns.

According to my fiancée, since she hasn't seen one, diamonds are more rare. But I'm not sure she was talking about trophy scores or something else... I wasn't really paying attention.

No sir....they are all found randomly in the wild.

When trying to round up a score on fur types I noticed only just now that the “Hunting Log” only lists bronze to diamond kills. Too bad, because I would like a record of all the rare furs and not just the medal worthy. The list would have been much more interesting when it comes to furs. None of my 2 (or more) doe Piebalds are listed. Neither is my cute albino rabbit :-(

After 199 hours the medalworthy ones are:

No diamonds
24 gold
119 silver
223 bronze
405 total.

Jackrabbits:
2 grey
1 lightbrown
1 brown

Black Bear:
1 Blond
1 Cinnamon

Brown Bear:
4 Cinnamon
1 Light Brown

I've only harvested two in 3200+ hours played.

Tho' it is said... if you look for Diamond tracks and track those down...
you will net more.

As dgeesio & ronMctube said, it has more to do with how you hunt. If you pay attention to score, actively (and solely) track high level animals, you are going to see more of them in a shorter amount of time. This is why someone like FREEZER can take 5 in 250 hours while hardly seeing any rare fur animals, while people like cbrrrman and myself have very few diamonds in thousands of hours (and I don't know about cbrrrman, but I've taken countless albino/piebald (at least one albino/piebald in every species that has them), about 4 melanistic, and 2 blackgold hogs. Heck, I see them so often that I don't even post them anymore.

But that's because, until recently, I never paid much attention to score - I was just enjoying the hunt.

The only thing I really actively try to find a high score for are fallow bucks (I've made a goal for myself of finding a diamond fallow).

Albinos are really rare. Seen only one albino Blacktail, which I got. I don't count the albino red deer mission in Hirsch. Pieballs are also quite rare. Got two piebalds and missed another. Diamonds are not that uncommon. I got 10-12 diamond scores, and missed another six to ten with non-quick kills.

If you see an albino, forget the mission you are working on and go for the albino.

I have netted 100's of Albinos/Piebalds.

Tho' rarer then the standard... not really all that rare that I see.

But a Diamond is rarer

Plus a Diamond scores higher (XP) and nets more $ when harvested.

only played 27 hours but i just shot an Albino roosevelt elk (Female), also have 2 piebald mallard ducks female and male, they all now chill in my trophy lodge along with my Blonde black bear. guess i got lucky :)

duck rares are easy to find along with bears the only luck really got is with the elk good job none the less

animals spawns are different in every map and every game. everyone will have a different answer :)

for me diamonds are more rare, i have 1, could be 'cause i don't hunt for diamonds, or haven't really yet.

i lost count of how many albino, melanistic, etc. animals i've killed.

Diamonds depend on how good you are.

I saw a legendary melanistic wolf ... Lvl 9. A diamond!

Oh, how awesome that would look in my lodge. Diamond and jet black wolf. A little bit of wee came out.
I pulled out my 7mm and got closer. Lined up the shot nicely on its heart. Squeezed the trigger just as it moved.

Shot went into a single lung. By the time it was dead ...

Its is still a melanistic. Nothing changed that. But it is no longer a diamond.

Albino are the rarest... have like 50 diamonds so far but only 4 albino... last one was a water buffalo... but for me melanistic seem to be even more rare, just got 3. ^^
