I find them often near the starting look out tower. I walk up there and glass down on the area and can sometimes find a couple. They don't render past 100m (without using binos) so you have to find them with the bino's usually or just happen upon one of their need zones.

I always go there too and hear them, but they never show. My first 2 are both golds i do believe.

Almost everywhere I go there are need zones for jackrabbits, and they are all around me. To the point that I think it is ridiculous.

They seem to like the grass that is reddish and a little tall. They like to rustle around in it.

Oh, and I am currently in the Layton Lakes reserve, so perhaps they are just super populated there.

There is a way you can spot them.
If you turn the environment graphics to minimum you can see small shadows on the ground.
Those are the rabbits. Just pick up your rifle and you'll see em :)

South of willipeg outpost there's an elevated stand almost on the shore of the lake. Great spot for blacktails, moose and rabbits. Last time I was there I shot 14 bunnies without leaving the stand. As long as you take one or two at a time and don't just spray 22 rounds they'll keep coming back.
