Houyi Recurve Bow - What arrows to use?

i tried the 420 arrows and they dont seem to work.
Are there different arrows for xbow and recurve bow?

Now that I think about it I tried to load the arrows into the ammo icon in the inventory screen..
Maybe this is the wrong way to use it..should I just equip bow and right click to load arrows?
