Are hunting stands worth building?
So I see these piles of planks all over the game, and I’ve built a few of them, but my question is, are they worth building for a rather expensive price of 2100$? I mean, they offer protection from bears, wolves and such, but otherwise you might as well just camp there on the ground since you can’t fast travel to the stands.

The best is to buy some tripod or treestand that you can carry in all the cards and install where you want.

Yeah, the tripod/treestand pack looks cool, my friend has it, but its pretty stupid that we only have overpriced, non-fast-travelable hunting stands in the base game. Why can’t we build treehouses where we want and make them act as outposts? Or maybe we could have an RV that we drive to a spot and set it up as a mobile outpost?

a tent acts as a mobile outpost.

I am new and could not play this game without tents...... paid DLC for some reason but the only way to start walking at the same point you quit the game last time.

Tripods are useful too
No big hunting pressure and you save ingame money for those hunting seats around the map that you don’t need,.

Don’t know if there is a difference in aiming
You only can sit in tripod

Tripods are great. Maybe even a bit game spoilers.
Then I use some of the blinds at the waterside to hunt ducks. Can be used as well to wait on game to go to their drinking zones.

Otherwise I hardly use them. Well, for some missions you need them.

Why on earth would you want tree stands and tripods as 'fast travel'? It's meant to be a hunting reserve not a platform game, hoping from one to the other and flying here, there and everywhere - miles at a time - without seeing anything other than a few selected areas. Best thing they did was not make them fast travel.

There's enough outposts already and you can place tents too and yet you want more 'fast travel'..... LMAO

Some regions could have more outposts.

Tents are paid DLC so not everyone got them.

Tripods shouldn’t be fast travel points.
But I am more a walking tracking hunter... never doing tent fast travel for fast XP money hunting

To answer OP question: less hunting pressure per kill, less visible, less smellable (?), Higher ground.

Hes talking about the old blinds/stands that are placed around the map at a price of 2100. As far as I know those do not have a hunting pressure reduction, that came with the new DLC stands. The ones present on the map have been there since launch and were our only hunting platforms prior to the stand DLC.

As for a reason to build them over the DLC stands? If you have the DLC I'd say no reason at all. If you for some reason do not have the DLC and do not feel like getting it, at least you have these bare bones, usually 20% or less visibility through shoddy placement, elevation platforms to hunt from.

The old stands also do reduction. Since the patch before Yukon.

After a while you save up crazy amounts of money, then you can blow it on that stuff when you get to it. I don't really use them but I like to build them because im a completionist and maybe an opportunity will arise when I get in one. If you're just starting out with not much money, then that's not a priority.

Agree with this and, yeah, I'm a completionist too. What I used to do was buy a stand, stay in it until I've killed two animals and then move on. The kills pay for the stand, although sometimes I moved on to the next if there was nothing around. It's a good way of seeing much of the map too, and discovering really good places to hunt and, later, place for tripods or tree stands.

Hate ground blinds though, as much of the time you lose a good line of sight....

The $2100 ones are towers so those can be good but depends on location as I have one I building on lakes only to find it was pointed towards the ground making it useless.

I personally wish they had given us X amount of towers/stands and let us build them where we wanted and the style we wanted as the ground blinds I find are pretty pointless most the time as just not much height

They give 100xp when you build them, so I do it. It's not like it's hard to make money. 2100 is only 2 kills. I like the one at cheelah lake in layton, but your experience will vary because need zones are kind of random. One thing about these $2100 stands it they're always located on a game trail, so if you play the waiting game for a bit they will pay for themselves. I built the one north of balmont lake at 6am game time yesterday and ended up shooting a bear, 2 blacktail does, 2 blacktail bucks, and 1 cow moose in the span of 10 minutes there.

If you don't have the tripod DLC it's worth it for sure. If you do have the tripod, you can just use it next to where the 2100 stand is to get a better effect. The tripod suppresses hunting pressure, the 2100 stand will not. If you're like me and value xp over money, it's worth building at least. Either way, the 2100 stands point you to where animals will be at some point in the day.

Experience has shown me that every hunting stand/blind is strategically place adjacent to a game trail. Some animals come close to the stand others well within call range. You just need to determine the times. I use to buy them...now I just put a tent and tripod there.
