Also I've gotten a bunch of free kills by riding the thing around. Sometimes it spooks deer into getting stuck on bushes or it makes them run up a steep hill they can't really climb so you'll get a free shot on them before they can escape.
- discovery of points of interest
- find some new need zones in unexplored or less-explored areas before trying to hunt, especially important if you want to clear a mission that is in an area you haven't spent much time in
- travel to known need zone before or around the beginning of the timer or to go there and drop a tent
Overall, I like having it. It's not required, but it helps condense the time requirement on a bunch of things.
However it did come in handy for opening the Yukon map more quickly.

The PC keyboard is rather a pain for operating the quad... as the control kinda blows.
...but at least it's faster then running to quickly open a reserve.
But if you're in no hurry.... and the DLC seems costly... I'd probably disregard the quads.
One will harvest way more animals along the way to the point you intend to hunt.
I personally feel the Tent DLC is the most valuable tool I have.
And I carry one with me always. ('cause I hate hunting in the night)
And can access my backpack/store anytime/anywhere.
Couldn't do that in RL where I lived and hunted. (USA/Minnesota)
Using it to hunt is a bad idea.
