Buffalo / Bison behavior
Hi all. Anybody else think that the agro / aggression behavior on these animals is way off? I have had the water buffalo, and Bison zero in on me from ridiculous distances.

Shot 2 Bison om the new Yukon map 150 and 190 meters. Both ran around obstacles and zeroed in om me perfectly. I think that Bison have very bad eyesight in real life so how the hell are they zeroing in on me so perfectly from those distances? And BTW the wind was in my favor, so they sure didn't zero in on my scent. The Water Buffalo exhibit the same behavior on other maps.

This is obviously broken. I can see this happening from a closer range and I think it would be fine. They seem to have the Bear behavior set up nicely, but the Buffalos are crazy.

Really spoils the sense of immersion (yeah I know, way overused.) for me when hunting them. I was hoping that they would get this fixed on the new map. :steamsad:

So anybody else feel the same way?

Cape buffalo as well.

If yours are aggressive, I guess this herd I encountered was full of blind and deaf. :cozyspaceengineersa:

Lol. You got the short bus herd.

Personally I like the high aggression in the bison. I know its NOT immersive, but it makes the game much more exciting for me. Just like the wolves, in RL they are no way that aggressive towards humans except in very rare cases. But I love it....the extra element of danger is super cool to me.
Let's remember, we are playing a game where a shot to the brain with a .338 is just a flesh wound lol. So if immersion lovers can get past that...then extra agro animal behavior shouldnt be a problem imo ;)

interestingly i shot a herd , about 10 or so of them , just standing in aggressive stances at close range, but not charging ,then next lot just KO-ed me ,was very interesting ,later one on its own shot at 155 m in the head ran all way round a lake to attack me , he didnt make it , but not sure how it knew i was there ? wind behind me was in full camo ,had to smile :)

I like the aggression also. It was such a change to the norm, and a refreshing challenge.

I don't like the level of aggression. I don't mind some but they seem really over the top to me, and they will keep running circles until one of you die. I'd rather be in bear territory than buffalo/bison territory.

I like some of the animals to be dangerous, it's a different challenge and not all maps have them, so there's something for everyone.

i know buffalo in RL, Bison you call them and they are aggressive, and will kill you.
we just had some tourist messed up here that thought he could take a selfie with one.
i was at the american buffalo center in ND and they had three there, huge penned in area, had a sign on the fence said hope you can cross this area in 9.9 seconds because a buffalo will cross it in 10. in africa most animal deaths are from cape buffalo so yeah they are aggressive as hell in RL

I play on XBOX and I nearly never had such blind, deaf, or stuck animals.
I had some, but only few. One time I had a herd of Blacktails around Kracken (Layton) but only for one time. Most of the time the animals move very good, and nearly all Bisons tried to attack me, after they were hit.
And I like it like it is.

And Jerry, perhaps they are not able to see very good, but they can hear. And if the hear the shot, they are able to run to the direction, they heard the shot. And if you don't run, they will get you. I even had a Bison that tried to hit me several times, and finally he got me, and the Bison died right after he hit me. For me such things are o.k.

i think the bizons are okay. they don't attack unless you're really close. which feels realistic.

if you know how cows behave that isn't strange. a bull will attack you too if you're close.

but buffalo's don't have the primary purpose of animal attacks in mind, they don't defend themselves, they seem to hunt and kill you, lol.

which is insane but also kinda funny.

Except I was 150 plus away from them, which isn't really close. The AI still needs work.

I too shot Bisons over a little lake (diameter about 120m) and he ran up to me to hit me.
As I said, for me its o.k. You know, that they sometimes come after you.
You can learn to do a quick sidestep in the right moment. Its possible, too with the bears and Grizzly, that try to hit you after a shot.

Hehe, but sometimes I had the case, that they didn't try make the attempt to hit me only one time, they returned as much, as they finally were able to hit me.
After the final hit most of them died immediately.
So for me it seems to be a wanted kind of thrill in the game, not wrong programming or coincidence or something like that.
