DOC #29 bugged?
"Time to estimate the state of the deer population!
* Travel to Layton Lake Shore.
* Find footprints from 4 different whitetail deer."

So i tried to complete this mission and i think there may be a bug.

In this area are NO Spawns for whitetail deer.
-I looked all over the place there are no need zones.
-I did run all over the place at ANY time.
-I did wait for ~1hour in a ground blind luring
-I tried to bait them into the area while beeing silent but it seems like there is a invisible wall. At some point they will not come closer. I did not scare them or anything.
-I tried to get them into the area with driving. First they run into the direction and then they turn around and start running in my direction. At the same point where they stopped while i was silent.

I watched the Animal Location Maps Guide

And the spawn for whitetail deer is big marked. But there is nothing else then, moose, black bear and coyotes.

So i wasted now ~5 Hours.
I am to 99% sure that whitetail deer's aren't allowed to enter this area. What is bad because i need their tracks.

Maybe u guys can tell me where i can post it so the devs can check this out. I realy want atleast one map cleared.

Sorry for my bad english.

I completed this mission a couple of days ago. I also could not find a need zone in the marked area but I found a resting zone outside of the mission area and tracks in the area leading to that zone.

Whitetail population was reset when they introduced TruRACS, so some problems are possible. Find them somewhere else and create hunting pressure so they're forced to move elsewhere. Don't fixate on single mission, just travel around and hunt for pleasure waiting for a chance to complete some missions, try to avoid stress

I had same problem before TruRACS introduced.

I drove whitetales into the mission zone from outside used ATV’s noise after all.

Ty for your reply - I tryed this to BUT as i said. There is something like an invisble wall. The deer's stoped and come right to me and my ATV. They even damaged me. Like an dead end and the only way is to run back to me.
Also apparently these need zones are not there for me.

You cannot really uninstall anything but whole game. You will complete Layton Lake eventually, it just takes time. From my experience completing Layton, Hirsch, and Medved, Layton is somehow the most time consuming. Initially I thought it is because of leveling up since I was starting in Layton, but now I replay these maps again with all DLC weapons and Layton still takes more time

So i did it and i want to explain how i did it.

>I dont want to ad my stream but i did the quest on stream!

Story short:
So at 1:15:00 i go afk and out of nowhere while i was afk (What else) came this massiv whitetail herd(1:18:30) from behind. I did go back and tried to find tracks and i did it!

In 11 Hours of waiting in this area this did just happend one time! So yes you have to wait for this quest.

But still i think when the quest was designed there were spawns and 11 Hours are way to much for a sidequest in my opinion.

Sounds like the same problem I am having with red deer and the Bohndorf valley in Europe. In extensively surveying the area and surroundings I found there are 5 nearby need zones for red deer, but all fall outside the mission area by hundreds of meters into Johndorf south of Bohndorf.

When I checked in again today I managed to track a lone male who went north into Bohndorf, but he circled back to Johndorf water need after only pooping twice (5 requested). I suppose eventually there would be a herd taking the same path, or perhaps a much much longer path to a need zone North and West of mid-Bohndorf (would be a 2 km+ travel, if they only pick existing need zones).

I have same problem now finding those footprints. There are only rabbits at this area...

just finished this one myself weekend before last or so. i had to call them in from a need zone about 300m north of the mission area. i led a herd of 6 or so into the mission zone then shot one so they all ran. plenty of tracks left behind to complete the mission.

Here is what I just did to solve it. The Lake shore zone isn't highlighted as I saved the screenshot after solving, but you can see at the top left of the lake I picked up Whitetail tracks and just followed them all the way down into the "zone", at which point I found a need zone for them. Time was 14:00ish (sorry, don't recall the exact time.) I also managed to bag two high level bear in the process :)
