Yukon is empty
First off the visual look of this map is fantastic; i am very impressed.

However i am finding large parts of this map just completely empty. Zero tracks, no mating or warning calls... literally nothing. I played for 5 hours yesterday, discovered 5 outposts, changed the time of day a few times and in that space of time i probably saw 20 animals at the most. Thought it was a little strange so i logged off for the day. Today i did an animal population reset and its the exact same thing....... NOTHING. Sure i am seeing a few things here and there but again nothing like the other maps. I am literally bored or walking and running around and finding no tracks, hearing no mating and warning calls.

Visually stunning map but its completely empty for me.

Empty? I couldn't walk 50 meters without being ambushed by bison or wolves. Caribous and moose are everywhere.

it does seem a bit light on animals, what it needs are deer that are native to the Yukon like Mule deer and Sitka black-tailed deer who seem more like the roe, but at least there would be some deer, this map needs them bad.
^^This^^

not again..
i not have played it so far but i hope its empty!!!
i dont want to play a damn shooter like layton has got sometimes...
i want a hunt feeling... and in a real hunt you search hours....

ITS not a damn shooter ( at least it should not be one!)

I agree with Beschuetzer, the less animals, the better. That's why Hirsch is still my favorite map. This one hasn't taken that title yet. ;-) I have seen and taken a TON of animals on this map though.

There has always been this divide between the player base. I also feel like Layton is a Arcade style shooter. I think more players tend to like higher animal populations, but a smaller subset likes fewer animals.

Until the Devs put variables into the population files that are driven by selectable drop downs on the options page there will probably be this conflict forever.

I like difficultry... So, for example, I'd like to see it take 20 kills to get your consecutive harvest to 100%, and not just the 3 it is now or the 5 it used to be, but that's WAY to HARDCORE for the normal run of the mill player. I'm a simmer though, so that's my cup of tea.

Agreed.

I know we'd get to hear the whiney "COPY AND PASTE" WAHHH sound that can be heard from miles away, but I'd also like to see some native deer species like white tail, black tail, and / or Mule deer on this map. I think those are all in that area, but I could be mistaken on some of those specific species.
Lots of animals on my map. 4 Achievements all main Missions and 22 side missions done, 2 crashes also.

I did walk from the Copperbowl Outpost to the Yukon Valley Lookout Hotel then on to the copper mine and from there to the Yukon Valley Lookout Golf earlier, during which time I saw one track and one bison, and heard one grizzly.

Having to hunt for animals is fine, but the animals have to actually exist. No animals, no calls, no tracks -> no hunting, no matter how good you are.

after unlocking the maps outposts and towers yesterday I saw alot of animal though I have yet to see the ducks
I've seen loads of them, mainly in the river on the east side of the map. They don't seem to go to the lakes and ponds, however.
I did a quad run to the south and had so many prangs with animals I had to restock med kits. Other areas I've been to are bare as the moon.

Exactly what i am saying.

Large areas of this map are deserted and for no reason other than there is a spawn issue like there was on Parque.

Though others are saying they are having no problems finding animals to hunt.
add the whitetail!
Same problem here. Friend and I played on Layton and bagged tons of animals. Played on Yukon and it was a ghost town. Boring.

I have to agree that this map has very few animals overall. Most seen are wolves. Even driving around you don't see any tracks for ages. I wonder if this is going to change over time. I would love to see those "lots of animals" too that some report.
i have found gigantic herds of bizon. and loads of caribu. didn't even reach wolf territory yet.

but could be that other places are not that filled.

wetlands and surrounding area have a lot of bizon. the forest in the direction of the second lookout point quest has caribu.
If you are where the wolves are, then it's pretty logical that there shouldn't be much game as well.

Other areas of the map I'm falling over stuff at the right time of day. As I said on earlier, travelling tracks on the quad is a real dodgem car trip from animals jumping out in front of me.
