Why are wolves not afraid of gunshots?
When I shot first wolf, The others are not afraid of gunshots, And they didn't not escape immediately.

They seemed to be slow reaction than the black-tailed deer. This is outrageous!

I saw 2 and they were extremely close so I killed one and the other ran off.

I think wolfes should ran, if you just shoot in the air.

Would be nice to see it that way.

I really like the standoffs. No wolves that is within 20 metres tend to back off it seems certainly not when attacked. Play classic if you want running wolves on first shot. But why so serious :)

I'm not sure how I feel about these wolf attacks yet. Initially I expected them to behave too similarly to Jackals and Coyotes so they definitely get a thumbs up from me in that regard. I like how unique they look and behave, but the attacking might be too unrealistic for my tastes. The first two times was an exciting rush, but after seeing them continue to chase me on the quad and I had a separate pack of about 12 come after me later, it's starting to feel too video 'gamey' and less like hunting.

But you are fine hunting with quads? I believe its optimized for hunting by foot. I only use the quad for transportation.

To have them spook properly by the quad noise is perhaps not a hard fix. In classic they went all out making the jeep useless for hunting.

No, you're right. I rarely use it unless I am travelling to unlock landmarks and outposts - as I was when I was exploring Yukon. That's what made it feel the most unrealistic and a bit broken. I don't care what animal it is, nothing is going to chase a vehicle for 400+ meters.

Exactly what i think.
It should not be too much like an arcade game.
Horrorwolfs are chasing you, like zombies. ;)
What about a big machine gun, or Panzers to kill them ? ;)
Flamethrower ?
Machete ? :D

Not easy to find the right mix between game that is fun, and "realistic behavior". Ok.
In the end thats personal taste, if it's right for you, or not.

I've basically said "%$#@ it", and when in wolf territory I'm just going on a total extermination campaign...no longer care about getting killed, no longer caring about 'playing' the game...killing wolves and exterminating the species is my objective.

I'd lay poison baits if it were possible. It's no longer a 'hunting' game for me when in wolf land.

Yep. Pretty much. I just stay off the West side of the map now. Its not hunting, its wolf swarm. :steamfacepalm:

Right on. If they're going to break realism, then they might as well double down on it and give us the works. I expect my ATV to have a flamethrower and a roll cage with Mad Max-esque spikes on it after the next update. That'll teach these rabid zombie wolves a lesson.

When I walk on foot I really don´t have that much encounters. Maybe had 6 so far. I have to look for them often for 30-60 minutes before finding them. So I don´t find them overbearing. The burned forest area is actually almost completely derived of life beyond some red foxes and occaional single caribou. So you could just avoid that area if you don´t enjoy hunting the wolves?

I have had a handful encounters so far. two when leaving an atv I always thought it was a story triggered event but maybe it wasn´t just wolves I upset prior that then teleported to the atvs location when it stopped?

What is the the affect of the whistle (x) on wolves?
I'm out of wolf country now to give it a try.

I just did the chop the tree over the train track mission. As soon as I stopped my ATV after riding there for 5 minutes, I was stampeded by a bunch of angry wolves. I was also listening to music and was not paying much attention. I figured nothing would bother me over the loud ATV. I literally threw my headphones off my head and screamed. It was my first encounter.
