honestly in my view they aren't really worth it. Have to stand shoot and no way to crouch to shoot as wall blocks your view so longer shots just that much harder standing.

Visibility wise I think they fixed that bug which was ages ago but being I don't really use blinds except to hop in a tower to scout out the are am unsure if it has been truly fixed

Ok thanks,I'm not sure what I am doing wrong,I make sure I am opposite of the wind I crouch walk while I track and it seems the animals know where I am even though I can barely see them, and they run.I found the feeding areas as well, how long do I wait before moving onto another areas?

The need zones will have the times you are most likely to find animals coming to them.

For stalking, you should try to stick to the shadows, and slow down when you are moving through stuff that makes noise - heavy grass, bushes, etc. If you are near animals, slow down as well.

In likely spots where there could be animals, you move a bit, wait and listen and look around, then move on a bit further...it's a slow process. You do that before you see any animals, basically.

When following tracks, inspect the droppings they leave to learn how long ago they were at that spot, that will give you an idea how far behind them you are.

Using callers, scent lures and the scent masker in the consumables section of the store also helps.

You should watch your sound levels on your hud, as well. If you are carrying a pack, it seriously increases your sound level.

Blinds work as a way to ambush animals. If you are carrying a blind, you don't set it up when you see animals, you set them up in a likely place animals could be, and lure them in with callers, etc. You can set them up at need zones, but you want to try and be a bit inconspicuous about it. It's a bit like pulling up in the carpark of a fast food joint, and seeing a big black van with 'Muggings-R-Us' painted on the side...it looks a bit suspicious.

Ok thanks for the help.

The in-game blinds (that you pay to build) work fine in terms of lowering your visibility. What is not working (and I think is a bug) is that the hunting pressure should be reduced (like with the tree stands and tripods) but is not. As far as I remember (but I have not checked recently) the DLC portable blinds and duck blinds do reduce the pressure.

I find the portable blinds fairly useful if you set them up beforehand near a need zone and come back when it is active. The duck blinds are the most useful as you will not have your vision blocked by the entry, and they are effective with any animal, not just ducks. The layout (goose) blind I don't like very much, but it also can be used with any animals.

The brand new DLC does in fact reduce hunting pressure. That is however a new mechanic and not one I would expect to be applied to a feature thats been in game from the start. Otherwise less people would pull out their money. That feature is almost certainly going to stay only for DLC stands.

DLC blinds work great, as long as placed well. I do not know if these reduce hunting pressure, but I would imagine not, at least at this moment, as the hunting pressure reduction just came out.

To the OP; as for hunting early game it is the hardest hunting in this game will get. Once you get a few of the noise reduction perks, it gets easier. And once you get the extra track type in the top of the tree it gets even easier. Just explore right now, pick up xp off grabbing outposts, if you want get the xp granted from building the on map blinds/stands (just dont expect too much, I've had alot of luck at the ones just north of balmont but thats about it). Hunt what you do find. With the amount of parks available now just doing that and some of the quests should get you levels plenty fast and allow you to discover need zones that will greatly help your hunting.

Blinds are quite useful...but in Hirschfelden Only where you can climb on top of them. The others are not worth buying.

now that the tree stand and tripods are out the blinds are not used as much, but i still have a time and place for them, and remember that they also give that reduction in hunting pressure bonus. if out in the open and you sense that you stand out too much on the tripod, try the ground blind, and its kinda cool to be in one of those during a deluge and watching the deer gather all around you while theyre nibbling away. you gotta use the scent eliminator though and stay down, even prone they will sometimes get too close and have a peek and then run off. but they dont go far.
