Quick question, which Crossbow bolt for Fallow?
hey all, quick question here, but which crossbow bolt is best for fallow, i fancy a new hunt with the crossbow and fallow are on my list, but wit very few weapons getting proper integrity on the fallow deer i'm asking which bolt is best to use, as i could use the deer rank bolt but that my be op, as i can kill a black bear with the rabbit rank bolt easley so is the deer rank bolt to pwerfull, so used for whitetails and up, or should i downgrade to the rabbit bolt to get a clean kill and full integrity?

420 should get full integrity.

The 420's will give you full integrity on everything from scrub hares to Cape Buffalo.

didn't think the 420 worked on hares & rabbits...had to be the 300

yup the 420 deer bolts work perfictly drops the fallow on the spot, aim for the frontal chest and it punches clean through all orguns and drops them there and then, lung shots give massive bleed as well, and the 300 works perfict on foxes, bagged x4 in the same field, but odly the same 300 bolt hit a roes lung at point blank range yet it still managed to run over 100m before dropping in another field, surly it should have droped quicker than that when lung shot at such a short range she was almost standing on me, though it only went into one lung, when it should have gone through both, but then it only has penatration of 10 maybe thats why?

Best guess is low penetration and the Roe deer is too big. I've hit them with a 300gr arrow from the Hawk Edge bow (70# draw weight) and both tiers of pumping iron. It just didn't have the penetration needed. A 420gr arrow running the same bow & pumping iron level will pretty much blow through them.

maybe, but ones thing for sure a 300gr still can kill a blackbear, once by accident i shot one with a brain shot but forgot to change ammo, but to my surprise the bolt still smashed through the skull and cored its brain like an apple, but i guess the 300gr just doesnt have the penitratrion to dig deep into the bodies of targets.

So on that note what would people say was the biggest eliageable huntable suited for the 300gr bolt?

Not sure why nobody told you this yet, but 420gr is what you need

I believe the fox is the biggest thing that the 300 will take down reliably.
