Or I'll phrase the question another way ... being as I can just take the sight of any gun I'm holding and slew it very quickly in the direction of a charging animal, under what circumstances would I ever use a hipshot other than I'm a noob who panicked?
Maybe a dev could shed light on what they intended it to be when they made the game. I've about 400 hours, have finished all the missions etc and never used hipshot once. I just don't know what its for or rather why you'd ever choose to use it. Its not like there is even a mission that says "kill a bear with a hipshot". Nothing.
Is the 68 more accurate (auto aims better) or is it faster (fires quicker)?
The fact the perk says improves accuracy makes me think there has to be some auto aim involved.
I occasionally hip shot when I put myself near/in a herd of buffalo or wildebeest, but that's most often with a shotgun. Pretty sure I've used hip shots when a pack of wild boars has come at me. It's generally rare usage, and definitely not something I'd waste points on, as I prefer to just no scope aim when that close to charging animals.
You probably won't kill the animal before it kills you ! ; )
Fact is... you'll be lucky if you even hit it.
I'd suggest acquiring a pistol in times of desperation. ( 454 would be a good Idea )
And have it ready when you step into danger ; )
Good idea to be prepared ahead of time before an act of desperation. Lol
Bottom line... forget the hip shot BS thingy. ; )
Sure you might practice that and become better... but why ?
Why else would they create a perk that encourages doing something that is likely going to result in you being penalised by other mechanics?
