" no organs hit " after a center chest shot
hello,
with a 7mm, polimer tip bullet, I shot from 120mt (zero=150) a moose from frontal perspective, in center full chest

going after the blood traces, the tiny one I found on the hit spot was the one saying "no organs hit"

where did the bullet go? ;)

thanks for explanation

You have to shoot lower on the chest for a heart shot. A center shot "should" in theory at least hit one of the lungs (the top of them I think). Only way to see where the shot actually went is to harvest the animal & it'll show you the bullet's path.

Was the animal feeding/drinking? I have had an animal drop its head when I let the shot go and it ended up "non-vital hit". Also, do you have the perks to help steady your aim & did you use the shift key to hold your breath when taking the shot?

there is a problem with bullet penetration, I've already made post about it earlier today and more guys have a same issue. Looks like the latest patch messed it up

No organs hit can still be a good hit, usually that means lumbar/spinal when I have been getting that.

as Leadmagnent has said. Aim lower.
I usually aim at the V (centered)

I've little issue... though sometimes I might miss at a distance.
I utilize the .300 Mag. w poly tip ammo

Penetration seems fine to me.
It is after all what the game makes one pay more for.
There's a reason why.

Soft point or round point ammo don't penetrate as deeply.
Especially when it comes to the bigger animals.

If ya want a sure kill... go for a 90* side shot and net a double lung hit.
Aim slightly higher up to penetrate thru both lungs.
Especially with the 7mm on moose.
The heart and brain are more difficult at distance because they're smaller.

Forget the spine / neck... as those no longer work well.
Unless you severe the spinal cord.

Forget what you might think about RL.. It's a game.

Stop calling everything that does not work your way an issue.
The issue is likely... your newness and lack of game experience.

So far the .243, .270, .30-06, .357, and MN1890 are shooting just like they did before patch. No issues with penetration with those.

Curious how many people that have issues restored files after the patch.

Frontal chest shots are just about the worst shots to make unless you go for the heart. It has been that way since May 2018 when I first started playing. All that gristle in the brisket is a bullet stopper. This latest patch had nothing to do with it.

As others have suggested, learn where the vital organs are, and what you have to do to hit them.

The other thing I'd recommend is to get in close...the shorter the range the better.

the animal tracks disappeared, so I could not harvest it (while the track of the whole pack were there...)...nor the purple "pressure" area appeared in the map

I have full perks for the rifle, I was prone, holding breath

I don't claim that I should have dropped dead the animal, yet a 7mm bullet, from 100 mt, into the chest, throught the longitudinal axis, should damage some organs, not only making a second axx hole ;)) ....ok, my "newness" then

yeah sure learn where the vitals are i hunt irl alot and im pretty sure i know where the vitals are ,but in this game shot a whitetail at 100m with soft tip .270 broadside for lungs and no penetration
(the riffles need a rework in this game in terms of their power becouse curantly a slingshot irl would have a better chance of takeing down animals than the riffles in this game

.243 soft point, straight heart from a front, about 13-20meters, roe deer...didnt penetrate enough - 3times same result
.270 soft point, side shot, about 10m, red deer...barely scratched one lung - 2times same result

.270 soft point, 30m, didnt penetrate enough
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1841215585
barely enought to touch the spine
- and even after the second (spine) hit he ran about 50-70m

penetration is broken and soft points are completely eseless, not even mentioning no expansion on a bullet so there is no advantage of soft points implemented in the game. No penetration, no expansion, no point in using it as BB gun

No offence intended but, mate, this is a crap shot. You can see the bullet has entered the animal far too high and glanced off the top of the spine. I would suggest that you didn't get the penetration because you hit the bone...not the soft stuff. A little lower and it might have been a full lunger or even a double lunger from the sixty meter shot that you took.

you should be aiming for the lungs or other vitals in the abdomen, not for the spine unless if you know for sure you will penetrate the vertebrae and actually hit the spinal cord.
