Scorched Hill; Yukon.....and wolves !
Just had a mad session in Yukon yesterday. I've heard that the wolves are a bit full on there.....no joke ! I considered that and planned for an encounter. I took the trusty the Eckers with poly tips plus the 12 gauge ready with slugs and tru-sights. I met a couple of groups; one of four, one of six. I popped a few out of each group to cut each group's numbers in half like the warden mentions.

I made my way back to plant some trees and then the next thing, I'm running for my life with at least eight wolves chasing me (seemed like twenty, lol). Man, they are so full of malevolence (well done Mr.Dev....you scared the SH1T out of me). Crazy stuff as I ran backwards firing off the 12 guage. I only survived because I fast travelled out !!

Don't get me wrong, I loved the experience. It really added something extra to the game. These buggers were actively hunting me not because I bothered them, but because that's what they do...very funny...I loved it. I'd like to see more survival parameters introduced....cold weather clothing that matters, carrying water in hot places, effects from tiredness...stuff like this.

My question is, does this wolf intensity only happen in the Scorched Hill area or are they all over Yukon ?

All over the map. Sometimes they run away. Sometimes they come for you. It does make it interesting.

i've only run into them in the west side so far, up in the east where you do some of the photography stuff i never saw a wolf.

And OP you should have played there before the last patch, they were more aggressive then.

Aggressive enough, thanks ! I'll have to keep a keener eye out for them. That last bunch came out me out of nowhere...so it seemed. I just notice them coming in from my rear, right flank....weird sound they make also.

i liked it better when they were more aggressive, extra challenge on that map.

I've noticed the wolves and grizzlies are moving around the map more lately.

Agree. Finding them almost everywhere at times.

Also finding water buffalo up on the high ridges of Fernando map. Strange.

ATV, or quad some call them, 4wheeler is the old school name, back when they allowed 3 wheelers.

I used to walk with the wind on my back and look side to side until one day in the Yukon. This strategy for spotting animals gave away my position to wolves down wind of me, I heard the growl and before I knew it 5 of then had surrounded me, it was one of the best moments I've had in the COTW. I did survive but I was chewed up a bit.

Yeah, I got really chewed up. I love how they 'snake' after you. It was an odd moment when I first saw them. I usually see things pretty good but these guys seemed put as much effort into stalking me as I do when after a deer.

Funny thing because, I have only just applied your suggestion of turning the tracks off. I'm looking closely at the ground for signs of stuff...then I'm running like a rabbit.

It reminded me of playing The Long Dark. Wolves are a bit full on in that game also.

I really like having a couple of maps where there is a predator that you have to stay mindful of ,keeps me on my toes. With tracks off its much move nerve racking but a lot of fun as well.
