If I really had it my way I would love to see some nice black powder cartridge breachloaders like the Sharps 1874, Rolling block rifle or springfield trapdoor rifles (45/70 Buffalo from Classic).
I mostly bow, shotgun, and pistol hunt in COTW, so more rifles that reward closer range stalking and don't allow for follow shots after bad shot placement would be my jam for sure.
Muzzleloaders aren't that gimmicky at all. In some states and countries muzzleloading firearms have extended hunting seasons and/or separate tag limits from open season. Some states specifically require the use of flint lock, or open sighted rifles during these extended seasons. Additionally some countries have more open firearms legislation when it comes to the use of muzzleloading firearms. Muzzleloading firearms are a popular subset of the hunting hobby, as popular (if not more so) than bow and handgun hunting.
As such, the omission of Muzzleloaders from Hunter COTW for this long has been a bit frustrating, and I have been a bit disappointed whenever a new weapon pack or reserve is announced and we get more standard rifles and no muzzleloaders. especially given that the devs have iterated that eventually everything that was in classic will come across to COTW.
I suppose we just have to keep waiting though.
how is it too cheezy modern muzzle loaders are not the same as 1700s muzzle loaders these days you just put the poweder and the bullet in a paper packet pre measured and just put the firing cap on and you're good to go it only takes a few seconds to reload
I would really like a military surplus rifle package.
8x57mm
Gewehr 98, Kar 98k with hood sight, G43
7.62x54r
SVT 40, Mosins long rifles(M91, 91/30, m39 and M28/30)
.303
Lee Enfields no 1 mark 3* + No4, Ross rifle
30-06
1903 (A1 + A3), P17 rifle, M1 Garand)
7.62x39
SKS
.308 -
Spanish FR 8 rifle, M1A, AR10 (BRN10A model)
7x57mm Mauser
Spanish M1916, VZ 24, FN 49
Swedish mauser and AGM42
berthier carbine, lebel and mas 36 + Berthier M34
Now this is a big list but I think it could be done if the devs could collaborate with companies like tripwire interactive, M2H, BlackMill Games (makers of Verdun and red orchestra 2 series) they could help put together all the rifle packages not just for surplus weapons but other weapons in the future. It allow the devs to focus on maps or new reserves and animals for the game. So win win.
Iron Sights
I would like to see fully adjustable sights like you see in arma 3 and red orchestra 2 heroes of Stalingrad. This would probably affect the military surplus rifles the most.
Cartridges:
New system where for example you can pick one caliber and one rifle to hunt many species with. Each cartridges will have varied loads to allow you to hunt different species of your choice.
Example
30-06
150 grain sp round - level 2 animals
170 grain sp round level 3 animals
200grain sp round level 4 animals
8x57 mm
170 grain sp round for level 2
198 grain sp round for level 3 animals
200 grain sp round for level 4 animals
Note this would affect all calibers in the game.
I agree, Flintlocks have this weird feeling pause after pulling the trigger as the flint ignites the pan charge and travels down the touch hole to the main charge. It would be awesome to include this slight hang time to differentiate the flintlock rifles and add some challenge and skill to shooting them. Plus it is always fun to see the pan flash when you fire :)
