Kill Count?
Is there a way to see just how many of a specific species you've killed and harvested?

I know in the Codex there's the "History" and "Latest Harvests" tabs, but neither go back from the beginning. I'm trying to complete the "Kill 50 so-and-so" achievements, and it'd be great to know where I am on the count.

Yeah, I agree...would be very handy to have a counter on the achievement page like so other games....not important, but nice.

agreed - i just kept killing that species until I got the 50 - seemed like forever but they do get full filled....

I started keeping tally a few days ago, so I at least know how many I've killed since then... just kind of a pain.

And pfft, I sat and shot like 30+ mallards in one sitting and was miffed to see that there isn't an achievement for 50 of those. Lotta dead ducks for nothin'.

better chance of a higher level duck to respond on your map by shooting them

That's true. Haven't ever gotten anything higher than gold...

Trying different location for awhile then going back to your usually favorite spots seems to help for me. Also try joining other peoples servers in multi player and check out your same location you would on your own map - be surprised what you might see

Doing the same on MED VED - started count 2 days ago. The night vision is great for these kills have 48 in total as of today 13 bear and 11 reindeer!!! Also doing the 'Shutterbug' achievement and just hopping the photos are ok.

Medved is my least favorite map, right up there with Hirschfelden. The dense trees and foliage make Medved difficult for spotting animals, and Hirschfelden just feels like a dead zone.

I've been wondering about the night vision. I may end up getting that DLC.

Hirsh is far from dead once you put some time into it. What makes Hirsh seem dead at first is that the need zones are all spread out (unlike all of the other maps where need zones tend ti be clustered).... but once you accumulate enough of those the action really picks up. I used to hate Hirsh too but it's grown on me and I really enjoy it these days. One good thing about the animal distribution on Hirsh is that you find flurries of animals everywhere on the map.... even though the herd sizes are smaller... while the other maps tend to have at least a couple large dead zones but larger herd sizes.

Many of Medved's hot spots are actually on frozen lakes and in clearings so spotting animals isn't an issue there. That being said it feels like the cheapest, most neglected map in the game (which it is) so I rarely go there. You really shouldn't be having issues spotting large herds of animals and finding need zones there, though.

Good tips. Thank you for those. I want to enjoy the two maps as much (or at least somewhat) as I do the others. Medved is a little depressing with the all the snow, but that's a personal thing, haha. Gotta get those achievements...

On Med Ved the reindeer can be just hiding in the bull rushes around the lakes - i have a couple hot spots on that map like the big lake on the east side maybe mid map - I stay about 180 meters from shore and travel around the lake spotting and using the antler rattler and just waiting a few minutes and the big ones are usually the last to pop out but not always - I have even found on most maps now that the critters hide in the bush just enough not to see but they are there - I also like to get to know the drink times and hunt around water - usually find other feeding near by as well. I have enjoyed both these maps recently that I have a better understating of need zones and hot spots.

ps. just got the sprinkbok city achievement unlock - must be for 50 of them.
