What I do typically is just as I die I pull up the map quickly and put a pin pointer on my spot that way it marks where I was so easy to find it again.
But that said there is a known tracking issue where tracks up and vanish and I have even seen animals just up and vanish so perhaps this is what happened here? Sometimes also you get no tracks at the shooting spot but tracks might show up elsewhere like I had a bear do that to me yesterday shot and killed it but the first track for the bear I was able to find was 125M's from where I shot it and nothing leading up to the first spot like the bear jumped 125M's away!
Also tip if you missed taxidermy of an animal you can go to your lodge and then in the manager you can recover the last animal that you forgot to taxi.
SPECIAL NOTE This last animal gets over written if you kill another animal it will only hold one in protected status for recovery. So it you killed a diamond and forgot to taxi it then killed another animal the diamond would be lost where as if you killed the diamond and forgot it you can go into your manager immediately and recover the diamond!
@Rookie No I didn't have it open yet. Was about to.
@The Last Frontier Thank you for your comment. I have also witnessed a trail leading to nowhere, just like now. Once a water buffalo's tracks ended up to a cliff and no other trails were found. You gave me a nice tip. I'll check if I can find the wolf from the lodge.
@CaptainNebulous Thank you for your answer. I knew that the game respawn a new animal after the player kills an animal of some kind. Hopefully I'll get my wolf back someday. I got 2 albinos in the first 10 hours in Yukon Valley, so my luck had to run out at some point.
@Kossatz Yep I do use the map to find my kills. Sadly still didn't find the wolf.
I think they added this recovery in there just in case you harvest something like a diamond or rare fur and forgot to taxi it first then you at least have a chance to recover it so long as you have not shot any other animal between.
I know I had another free to play game I was testing out and part of what made me stop playing that game was the buttheads in that community no matter what you would post out there always someone was either trying to act like a moderator 9without mod authority) or was just being rude to other players and it got old very fast. It was not Classic for the record as I know it's now F2P this was some other game.
Yeah free to play games are like that. The community is very toxic and you don't get any help without being accost. In this community you feel very welcomed and people seem to try their best to help you with your issue. I must say that this kind of community I haven't experienced anywhere else. Maybe the reason is that the players of this game are mature and don't want any drama in the forums.
The biggest trouble maker we have in the community is PicSoul he's a mod that is constantly keeping the forums neat by moving posts into the right area HA HA I mean how dare he keep it neat and tidy in here HA HA
