Is this like Dangerous Hunts?
One of my favorite sports games ever has been Cabela's Dangerous Hunts on the Playstation 2. I love the freedom that game gave you & the simplicity of choosing your gear, choosing your area, and choosing your tag, then just hunting.

Since the first Dangerous Hunts game, I havent found any other hunting games that can scratch that itch, so I have been waiting for a game to do that.

To anyone that has played the original Dangerous hunts, I want to ask: is theHunter: Call of the Wild going to fill my need for a similar hunting game?

Watch some Youtubes first to see if you like the game play.

I very much enjoy this game, and it is still being worked on and refined.

You have a 2 hour window to try it anyway.

Good luck..

2 hours is so not long enough, 1st time i played this game i played for 6 hours straight pretty much ... Felt like i had played an hour lol.

This game isn't much like any of the Cabela games in that its alot less 'arcadey'. If anything its much more free and open and for my money, 'realistic' (yes I'm sure alot of real life hunting folks will balk at this and point out numerous issues with animal behaviour etc but honestly, its the best there is in video game form). If you enjoy the Cabela games I suspect you will LOVE call of the Wild, its vastly better in every way for me, just be warned that you will need a little more patience than those games and there arent flashy 'bullet zoom' effects and so on, the emphasis here is on trying to feel realistic and immersive and it does that in spades for me.

As others have said though, have a watch of some gameplay on youtube to see for yourself. I'd personally recommend having a watch of the excellent videos by Fooster and ZaggiDK. There's also a couple on my own channel 'The Collective' (but honestly Fooster and Zaggi's stuff is waaaaaaaaaay better than mine so go watch theirs ;)
just chk the youtube about Dangerous Hunts...

omg, this is not hunting, this is just animal massacre :steamfacepalm:

yep the cabela games are pretty much just a shooting gallery rather tahn a hunting sim (tbh the Hunter games are basically the spriitual successors to the classic Deer Hunter series imo and I love them... the Cabella games... yeah theyve got some flashy effects and bullet time shennanigans but theyre not in the same league, I actually think the OP if they enjoyed the cabella games would either be blown away by COTW or find it very slow...

I loved Dangerous Hunts on PS2. It was probably my introduction to hunting games. COTW blows me away and I love it for the immersive graphics and thrill of luring in prey you've been tracking down since sunset. Now you may hate or love this game but thats just my experience. There's always some animals like bear, bison and wild boar which will charge you if you piss them off enough.

This game does have some bad problems, though. The animals sometimes warp around or teleport away from you which does kill my immersion when it does happen. So if you hate bugs you might want to avoid this game.

If I remember correctly I think EVERYTHING in a cabela's game tries to kill you lol.

I remember seeing a picture on Google that was a deer with carnivorous teeth. I'd have loved to hunt it. The ultimate hunt - prey that hunts back. Bring it on!
