There is a bow perk that will allow you to fire your bow while prone.
Getting a Fox with a bow takes patience. I found a spot by a road that they frequented, hid in the bush and called them out into the open. Shot them on the road from the bush.
The archery perk "like a pro" lets you enter aim mode while prone with a bow. The down side is there is no sight to aim by so you have to aim down the arrow & hope for the best. If you have the shooting range DLC, spend some time there shooting prone to get a feel for aiming.
The stalker skill "improvised blind" decreases your visibility in large bushes & shrubs.
The stalker skill Jake mentioned for reducing noise is "soft feet" and there are two levels. The first reduces the noise in leaves & grass. The second level reduces noise in large bushes and shrubs. These work the best when you use the crouch walk.
Probably the hardest animals to bow hunt are the fox, lynx, and coyote.

Great job tracking that thing. You have way more patience than I do because I wouldn't have tracked that fox for half of that distance.
