Warning Call
Does the warning call neccessarily mean that the animal has spotted you and is running? Will it always run?

it's a warning call does not mean it has run off yet but it knows you are around that's why it's important to watch the gages on the screen for sight and sound levels so you know how noisy or visible you are or for wind how stinky you have become running around the map HA HA

For certain animals its doesn't seem to matter much, whereas 'smarter' stuff like coyotes and bears seem to run quite often after warning calls. That's just a general feeling though

If you're going after most animals it just means you should be a bit more careful about visibility and sound and check which way your scent's blowing
also bare in mind higher level animals gold and diamond might not even give you a warning call before they run off.

Most animals seem to actually close in on me if I answer their warning call with the correct caller. I never kept track on the difficulty of the animals in question, but I do know I got a couple gold harvests that way.
