Having trouble finding whitetail deer in Lake Cheelah

I have to harvest one at night but all I can find is either Moose or blacktail... any ideas?

Try another night. Southern shore is best location, they come to drink there and also have rest zone south of the lake, although outside of mission area but you can spook them toward lake if approaching from south

You don't need to harvest the deer, nor cheat. Change the time to midnight or something and in the correct map. Look for tracks, click to activate them but don't follow. Keep looking for more white tracks to click on. Eventually the narrator, forget his name, will see you activated enough bear tracks to realise there is actually a bear problem there and why the deer are getting fewer. You get paid about 2,500 credits and the task is done. Ostensibly you are looking for deer at night but in the process prove there are a lot of bears about which is what the guy from Hope Valley claimed was putting off the deer.

I'd expect they use the same or similar mission on all maps. Same process most likely....
