Those yukon bison are scary burgers when your in the brush trying to harvest one u just shot. Those things can be silent when they want and sure as hell ain't afraid of you once they know where you are.
Gets me every time.
I wasn't using my headphones, and although I have good PC speakers, I never heard them sneaking up on me. I have to hand it to the developers, as they did a very good model of an angry wolf, and it gave me quite a jolt.
I made my way back to the same location and wiped out the entire pack. I like to think I taught them a lesson about not scaring the big, bad hunter.
Medved Bears scare the crap out of me.
When they are walking, it sound like godzilla is coming for you... then you see them, huge monster, and they stand up, towering above you, mighty roar... quick shot to the chest may take it down before it eats you... but the scare is real and lingering.
Love it!
In my panic the idea to switch weapon never occured to me and I emptied the little 22 into the first bear as I got mauled but both bears for the first time. Reloaded and emptied it again (that little sucker can belt them out real fast!) into the same bear. Got mauled again by the second bear but was still hanging on, if only barely. Noticed that I couldn't see the first bear, had no idea where it went, so I emptied the 22 again in the general direction of bear two who then decided it was time to vacate the area.
Trying to figure out what was going on, and try to collect my breath and just calm the F down, I looked around. Turns out the first bear had gotten to the same conclusion as the second and tried to get the F out of Dodge. Two magazines of .22 isn't my ideal idea of a bear load, but I'd hit with enough of those that it actually lay dead only 20 - 30 meters away. Worrying a bit over the second bear I started following its tracks, but after about 50 - 100 meters all traces of blood just stopped. I searched about a 100 meter radius around that last spot of blood, but still couldn't find a single drop of blood. As there had been no critical hit and only a few non critical I thought the beast had just shrugged it off and gone on its way.
A few hours later I passed close to this area again and lo and behold, there was the second bear lying dead about 450 meters from where I first encountered them.
That initial attack was the scariest moment I've had so far in CoTW.
Haha yeah when medved first came out those big browns were really the first occasions where a player would actually get hunted themselves.
