Skinwalker Elk
A opened fire on a herd of Roosevelt Elk with the trusty .30 cal. Remember my boy, aim small miss small :csgocross:. I was at an elevated position when I opened up the lead hose, so I slowly made my way down to collect my kills. After collecting the blood money I took cover against a tree to get my bearings :lunar2019piginablanket:. Couldn't have been more than 30 seconds before I heard the brush thumping and rustling closer and closer to me. I've been charged by animals before so I pulled out a piece :csgogun:, but what I saw next scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me dawg. It was an elk limp running at me and his head was contorted to the side. My first thought was skinwalkers, but I blasted the skinwalker/elk and he dropped pretty fast, faster than I'd expect a skinwalker to drop. After inspecting the elk I just dropped I come to find out that it wasn't a skinwalker I just killed, he was just an elk I shot through the spine earlier and that caused him to run weird. I'm surprised that spine shot didn't drop him instantly, and I'm even more surprised that he had the strength/health to charge me. Probably the spookiest ♥♥♥♥ I've seen playing this game. The things you see when you ain't got a submachine gun.

I forgot to ask what spooky stuff you guys have seen in this game. In the spirit of Halloween you know.

Well from the many requests I am reading a submachine gun may not be far off.

Those yukon bison are scary burgers when your in the brush trying to harvest one u just shot. Those things can be silent when they want and sure as hell ain't afraid of you once they know where you are.

waterbuffolow , got chached by 3 off them, got killed, walked out of cabin, there they were, standing there, waiting for me, got killed again, the first time i got killed, i was around 75yds from cabin, 7 times i got killed before i got all 3, every time i look out of the window, they were there, looking right back, at me, awaiting to kill me as I went out the door, been to that location a few times, same thing, 3 waterbuffs, came after me, killed me, the last time, I was ready for them, had stand, and a .22 pistel, 100 rounds, went there, heard them coming for me, got up stand, just in time, then had great fun, shooting them with me .22 as they run around me, 65 rds it took to get all 3, :), slitly over the top, but that is kind of what happened,

just the bears. when you've been tracking a trophy for a while and you finally hit those 'just now' ♥♥♥♥ piles, so you start crawling slowly and so focused don't notice the bear laying nearby until you hear the growl and roar and 1/4 of your life is gone.

Gets me every time.

My first encounter with wolves gave me a good jolt. I was crouched down, stalking a nice moose and stopped under a tree to use my binoculars. I was looking around and heard something behind me, turned around and a wolf was just a few yards away, teeth bared and ready to attack. He rushed as soon as I saw him, and the next thing I know, I'm respawning back at the outpost.

I wasn't using my headphones, and although I have good PC speakers, I never heard them sneaking up on me. I have to hand it to the developers, as they did a very good model of an angry wolf, and it gave me quite a jolt.

I made my way back to the same location and wiped out the entire pack. I like to think I taught them a lesson about not scaring the big, bad hunter.

Medved Bears scare the crap out of me.
When they are walking, it sound like godzilla is coming for you... then you see them, huge monster, and they stand up, towering above you, mighty roar... quick shot to the chest may take it down before it eats you... but the scare is real and lingering.

Love it! :steamhappy:

I was plinking some rabbits with the 22 pistol, just minding my own business waiting to get a good shot on a couple of rabbits that was poking around just the other side of a bush. I've been waiting a few minutes when I finally got a glimpse of a rabbit through the foliage. I took the shoot only to be rewarded with a roar and having a f-ing bear launch at me. Just to make things better a second bear followed the first just to get a taste of me.

In my panic the idea to switch weapon never occured to me and I emptied the little 22 into the first bear as I got mauled but both bears for the first time. Reloaded and emptied it again (that little sucker can belt them out real fast!) into the same bear. Got mauled again by the second bear but was still hanging on, if only barely. Noticed that I couldn't see the first bear, had no idea where it went, so I emptied the 22 again in the general direction of bear two who then decided it was time to vacate the area.

Trying to figure out what was going on, and try to collect my breath and just calm the F down, I looked around. Turns out the first bear had gotten to the same conclusion as the second and tried to get the F out of Dodge. Two magazines of .22 isn't my ideal idea of a bear load, but I'd hit with enough of those that it actually lay dead only 20 - 30 meters away. Worrying a bit over the second bear I started following its tracks, but after about 50 - 100 meters all traces of blood just stopped. I searched about a 100 meter radius around that last spot of blood, but still couldn't find a single drop of blood. As there had been no critical hit and only a few non critical I thought the beast had just shrugged it off and gone on its way.

A few hours later I passed close to this area again and lo and behold, there was the second bear lying dead about 450 meters from where I first encountered them.

That initial attack was the scariest moment I've had so far in CoTW.

Haha yeah when medved first came out those big browns were really the first occasions where a player would actually get hunted themselves.
