I've come across this a lot and most of the time the animal just turned around and its track is quite a ways away.

I happens, I lost a nice bull elk to some water yesterday. don't worry though, your mythic coyote would have only been gold even with a perfect shot.

Yeah, this is happening far too often to me now. It's almost as if they head to the water, knowing they can jump it. Had a bison that actually jumped it twice I took the time to go to the other side to pick up the trail, only to follow it around and have it jump back to the other side. Recently there are a lot more of these things that are causing me to just give up on trying to track animals. I don't mind wading across a river - but we can't do that in game. So it's a matter of getting to the next crossover point, or fast traveling and running to the place it crossed over. Once is enough for me when it comes to one animal - twice is a bit too much.

It's not even like they swim either it's litterally just teleporting once they hit water. I SAW a bison i shot start running into the water and I thought he was stuck so I was aiming at him then pop and now he's in my face and hit me... from across a lake.

Ive seen this too... Shot a white tail in a open area and he ran towards a body of water, when he hit the side he ran in place for like 3 seconds then teleported to the other side and died a few steps later. So theres always a possibility of animals warping to the other side apparently.. lol

Yeah I got a mythical today but sort of feel cheated as I tracked it for 1.3KM before getting the bear but because I had just booted up when I stumbled on it I had no prior kills for the day so what should have been diamond was only silver being the lack of consecutive kills GRRR

But I DID GET HIM!!!

Darn OK thought mythical was tops oh well was still fun getting him no matter the reward level! Long trail to follow and to get him was worth it especially in one shot from 166M's!

It doesn't even have to be water - I'm getting them teleporting since about 2 updates ago. I commented on it then and other were seeing it too. It's almost like a lag - but NOT a lag (or not a lag because of PC performance or network issues - I see it outside of MP).

this actually just happened to me, except I checked the other side of the water and mine was dead on the shore. lol. I shot it, it glitched across the water and died

yeah just lost a mail elk I had been tracking. Ran right into the water and must have been the Bermuda triangle!
