Need Definitive Explanation About Consecutive Harvests
Nobody seems to really know how this works. I've seen people claim that once you quit and return to a map, it resets to zero. Not true, as I have come back and had 100% on first kill many times.

I just continued and my first harvest was indeed zero, so I killed and harvested EVERY animal I shot and was up to 12, but that 12th harvest was at zero again. I did not shoot anything I did not kill or track and harvest.

I'm pretty confused now about how this functions. Could a Dev possible step in here?

I think it might be a bug. Last night, after days of trying, I finally found a red stag that should have been high enough to complete the mission I was on but when i claimed it my ch bonus was set to 0. I only shot a few animals on my way to the canyon and claimed every single one of them. Unless a stray pellet from my shotgun fatally hit some far off animal I didn't even know was there before I found the stag, there was no reason it should have been reset.

You start with 0% for your first harvest, and every consecutive harvest adds 20%, so at 6th harvest you should get 100%. You will maintain this bonus as long as every animal you kill is harvested. Unclaimed downed animal results in bonus cancellation.

Did you ever shoot multiple animals before harvesting any? My bonus broke only once, after I wounded moose and abandoned search because of very low bleed, I harvested a deer while retaining 100% bonus but second deer was 0% bonus, so I assumed moose had finally died and I did not harvest it. Or it was a bug, not sure.

yeah, you lose your harvest bonus if you wound an animal and don't kill it. This typically happens with low-powered rounds and high expansion rounds that may result in significant damage, but because it wasn't vital, results in 'low bleed', and re-tracking that animal can take days.

I think it's because low-bleed is waaay too low. Tracking an animal that took massive damage from a high expansion shot can take hours RL, if you ever find them again. Hitting them with the wrong caliber can lead to what ended up with me mauling about a dozen deer over 8 straight hours like this:

That was an 8 hour adventure with my .357. It's not worth chasing down low-bleed animals. You're better off just gunning down a herd of does with better shots.

.

That cant be it. Just today i shot 3 animals that got away with a flesh wound. My next kill still was a 100% consecutive harvest.

Only if the wounded animal DIES later and you dont collect it do you lose your 100% bonus.
And only if you leave the game or region without harvesting the corpse.
If you get a purple "hunting pressure" circle on the map after wounding the animal it died somewhere. Those you must collect to keep up the bonus.
If you dont get that circle on the map after hitting an animal and 1-2 minutes pass you can ignore it without risking your bonus.

Thats at least my experience so far.

If an animal is wounded and you log out, it's counted as dead. I mauled about 10 deer with that .357 and logged out after giving up as survivors hooked up with new herds and perpetuated the problem even after I gave up on the pistol and started bow hunting. As soon as I reloaded the game, my bonus was reset.

If you don't log out or hunt down a very-low bleed animal, it will essentially live forever in 'Sim'. Very low bleeds aren't fatal (in the practical sense), but the game 'wraps up' failed hunts when you exit. It won't affect your harvest until you quit and re-enter.

Nope, sorry. Like i said, in my last session 3 wounded "low bleed" animals got away. Never collected them.
Just started a new session after your post and shot a bear. With your explanation my bonus should have been at 0% because i left the last session with 3 wounded animals that i never collected.
But the bear right now gave me full 100% bonus. So that cant be it.

Yeah someone pointed out that I was confused by it, and now I'm even more confused by it. I'm trying to figure out how it works with shooting multiple animals. Oftentimes I wait before picking them up. I don't make it a point to pick them up in order, and I can see the score going up to 100 with each I pick up (out of the order of shooting them), but then it will go to zero when I pick up the next one - and I've not even finished picking up all the ones I've shot.

It seriously seems completely random.

I've complained about this wonky bonus way too much. My main problem with it is that sometimes it just resets for no reason and that's usually when I have a chance at a diamond animal.

Not only have I left the game with animals I wounded and never found and returned with 100% consecutive harvests, but as I said, shot 12, harvested 12, and from number 6 to 11, it was 100%, but fell to zero on the 12th.

Except that has nothing to do with the issue the op and I are describing. We are killing and harvesting every animal but it still will sometimes reset to 0 for no apparent reason.

I've noticed this bug several times. Consecutive harvest will reset when I haven't missed a kill or missed a harvest. Gave up caring about it awhile ago,

I am not going to cry over it, but it is a little aggrivating when you spend hours and hours irl trying to bag a gold red stag for a mission and you finally take one down only to find you got a silver rating because CH randomly dropped to 0 again for no reason.

I completely agree with you Von Streed.

I just harvested a coyote and waited out his brother 3 mins later...0%. No animal was injured or even shot at in the 3min gap that it went from 100% to 0%.

BUT! I did shoot it with the bow instead of the .243! I am wondering if it has to be the same weapon used consecutively??? Can anyone answer this?

It may be, as a bug, but I doubt it is planned.
