Did you ever shoot multiple animals before harvesting any? My bonus broke only once, after I wounded moose and abandoned search because of very low bleed, I harvested a deer while retaining 100% bonus but second deer was 0% bonus, so I assumed moose had finally died and I did not harvest it. Or it was a bug, not sure.
I think it's because low-bleed is waaay too low. Tracking an animal that took massive damage from a high expansion shot can take hours RL, if you ever find them again. Hitting them with the wrong caliber can lead to what ended up with me mauling about a dozen deer over 8 straight hours like this:

That was an 8 hour adventure with my .357. It's not worth chasing down low-bleed animals. You're better off just gunning down a herd of does with better shots.
That cant be it. Just today i shot 3 animals that got away with a flesh wound. My next kill still was a 100% consecutive harvest.
Only if the wounded animal DIES later and you dont collect it do you lose your 100% bonus.
And only if you leave the game or region without harvesting the corpse.
If you get a purple "hunting pressure" circle on the map after wounding the animal it died somewhere. Those you must collect to keep up the bonus.
If you dont get that circle on the map after hitting an animal and 1-2 minutes pass you can ignore it without risking your bonus.
Thats at least my experience so far.
If an animal is wounded and you log out, it's counted as dead. I mauled about 10 deer with that .357 and logged out after giving up as survivors hooked up with new herds and perpetuated the problem even after I gave up on the pistol and started bow hunting. As soon as I reloaded the game, my bonus was reset.
If you don't log out or hunt down a very-low bleed animal, it will essentially live forever in 'Sim'. Very low bleeds aren't fatal (in the practical sense), but the game 'wraps up' failed hunts when you exit. It won't affect your harvest until you quit and re-enter.
Nope, sorry. Like i said, in my last session 3 wounded "low bleed" animals got away. Never collected them.
Just started a new session after your post and shot a bear. With your explanation my bonus should have been at 0% because i left the last session with 3 wounded animals that i never collected.
But the bear right now gave me full 100% bonus. So that cant be it.
It seriously seems completely random.
BUT! I did shoot it with the bow instead of the .243! I am wondering if it has to be the same weapon used consecutively??? Can anyone answer this?
