Seriously where the F are the fallow deer in Petershain????
Dude. I'm so frustrated. I've been trying for a day and a half to find them. I'm staying quiet, using the antler rattle, cover my scent. All I need is to kill two for this stupid mission. They think these fallow deer are eating their crops, but all I get is Roe deer. I am currently located in between the Petershain cornfields where the structure is located. I've tried hunting at dawn and dust just as the wiki suggests but they just aren't f*ing showing up. And it's making me very bored and preturbed.

Imho if there are even no tracks of the deer everywhere for you it's just another sign that there is a serious bug with animal spawning. I just where at the same mission and at ~9:30am ingame time there where tracks everywhere around the corn fields and plenty of deer groups around them.
There where so much of them that it was my most successfull hunt so far, 9 kills within an hour:

I didn't have much of a problem. I had roe, boar, and fallow when I went there. I went at night because I had a fallow rest need zone there and banged it out first try plus got some extra kills. Check for need zones in that area. As far as I know, if they are used up by animals other thna fallow you can purposely overhunt them and drive them out then you have a chance of fallow moving in to fill the nedd zone. Give that a shot.

I've noticed this as well, overhunting an animal species in an area will often open it up for new species to use the areas for need zones which tends to draw more of them near the area.

I guess maybe I need to clear the area of boars and roe. I will try that and see if any fallow show up after that. Thanks for the tips

check out xi laws maps in the tips forum. there you can see where which animals live.
(i even downloaded the maps so i can check them really fast)

but first chill out. you're pretty stressed from the game. :D
i stop playing a game if it frustrates me. that's better for your mental health and reputation on game forums. ;)
but we all get frustrated with games sometimes.

also. the game has a learning curve. how longer you play it. the better and easier it gets.

and.. don't see the missions as the focus of the game. they're a bit buggy sometimes or really difficult. try hunting first.

xi laws maps also have stars on them. those are good hunting spots. again. really.. check them out.

Thank you kindly for helping me. Others just want to bash a person for having an opinion or feelings about something. But you showed me that you care and want others to have success. I appreciate that :-)

That could indeed be the problem. After i killed now like 15 deer in the area i now have quite a lot boars in that area and i'm pretty sure there where none before that.

I also had a mission to claim a whitetail at Cheelah Lake (sp?), but there were only blacktails there. After killing around 6 or so I came back a couple days later (after the hunting pressure was off the area) and there was only whitetail and no blacktail.

Pretty sure it will do this on its own too, as time passes animals need zones change in their own so you don't necessarily have to go out and overhunt an area, you can always just come back after a few days and it should have "refreshed" the area.

I swear, unless you have the population bug, there's no way you should be complaining about the lack of animals in game.

But, if you are looking for suggestions:

Call both Roe and Fallow (they seem to come together quite often).
Use the doe bleat (I know it's not meant for that map's species, but it works sometimes for me).

Are you using any backpack? If so - don't. They are simply too noisy (even when standing still).

If that doesn't work - call for something completely different, have some fun and wait and see what happens.

He's not complaining about finding them in general, just a specific species in a specific area. Which at times can be troublesome.

its just the mission, its tricky, they dont spawn any fallow in those cornfields when you take the mission, they come from outside them. if they do spawn them, they only spawn two i bet. find an area near the edge up wind of you and just call em in.

I started to think more about this issue and I remembered that 99% of my hours have been played on the Layton side, so I went over to the European side and I had not even been to the Petershain corn fields (they were in an unsearched/black area). So I decided, instead of just talking out my –ss, I would go give it a whirl. I literally had to search for the corn fields, since I didn’t even have the nearby lookout post.

While searching for the actual PS corn fields, I did shoot a few in other fields (I know, doesn’t count – but it speaks to how many I saw).

I finally walked within the PS corn field region and it popped up on my screen. I crouched out into the center of it (where the tree line cuts through), got myself situated and called. Within 2 minutes I had a Fallow buck call back, brought him in and took him with a bow. Called a few more times, moved down to where the road cuts through the corn fields and another buck called. I called him in and took him with a bow. Grand total of 24 minutes from getting settled to last shot. (And I have vid-cap if you really want to see it.)

I know you don’t have to be in the center of the fields, but the position was nice and gave me a good view.

So either:
You’ve got a bug (could happen).
I was just extremely lucky (could happen).
You are just having a bad few days (could happen).
Or (and I mean this in all kindness) – your hunting style doesn’t match with this mission.

I did notice that there were NOT a lot of fallow deer out there, but as some have pointed out, missions are supposed to be difficult. (I don’t go by missions anymore, I simply pick what I’m going to hunt and have fun with it.)
