Curious question regaring Lure/Callers
Hi

Just curious can a lure/caller be used to much where it spooks the animal? I typically use it between once and twice then give a break between that and the next calls, but at points I have used it more and also more frequently when I know an animal is close by.

So can callers be used to much or is there no limit where an animal won't spook if I use it 1 time or 100 times!

As long as you're hidden You can use it 100 times if you want

Yeah, the only thing I've noticed that spamming the calls does is allow them to locate you easier in which case if you're not well hidden means they see you.

Would be nice to see an overuse penalty though. I don't personally spam them, but can see where it would be effective. Would cure some of the AI issues with them coming right back after shooting near them.

yeah my case sort of started to get into bow hunting to using cover alot I just got curious as sometimes you get herds around and have to keep calling them back in and was just wondering. I don't spam it for sure but you do have times where it has to be used more then a few times if large enough herd numbers.

i have had Roe Deer give me a warning call after a mating call when i was too rapid on the caller. If i space them out, i dont get that reaction, Roe Deer are the only ones where i have seen this.

They will spook if you use it too often and too quickly. The amount of "spook" can be anything from "nervous" to outright "fleeing".

Use it every few minutes while trying to attract/get attention, then sparingly while they are moving in (using it only when you know they are moving away instead of in). Keep an eye on their status = if they get nervous, tone it down a bit until they get back to calm.

To add to KaiEr, I actually spooked a nice large looking buck from my calls. I got a mating call, do I decided to try it out and see for myself. So I just pounded on the caller, and sure enough I got the herd of females coming to me, but I could see off in the distance behind some bushes the buck run off like he knew something was up. It seems like maybe Male animals will be spooked from them but females not so much.
