Unbelieveable Doc #20
So I've got about 10 real time hrs into Doc#20...gold moose with a bow at night, I try again tonight only to find some cows are behind the outpost and out of the area; but they r not moving. After about a half hr of trying to draw them into the area I get the bright idea to work my way around the back of them to chase them into the area; thinking there might b a bull with them. I work my way around them and sure enough, there's a #4 bull with them. Now we're talking; I get behind the bull in the right position to drive it south n into the area...they're still not moving. I run up to the bull, light on, and nothing....I step back n run at it, I physically ran into the bull n did about 40% damage to my health but still they stood there, cows too.. I fired the 357 into the ground n nothing; now I'm ticked so I walk around the front of the bull, 5 yds away n put n arrow into the heart, it goes down. Did the same to the 4 cows as well; they all just stood still...the bull was gold

How about fixing the missions first before starting another project people....wth...what other missions r faulty n we're wasting our time trying to complete...enough is enough

This mission is pure torture, comparable to Vualez #10, Sommer #8, Beatty #10, Federal Eco Service #10 and many other pseudo-important side missions, I don't even want to remember. So useless and time wasting.

That mission took me literally probably 20 real life hours to complete. By far the toughest mission IMO. I shot probably 10 big bulls or more 3 very easy's and 4 easy's until i finally got a heart shot, the wind was always horrible for me in that area. It was finally a 3 that did it for me. Just a fairly small area with not a lot of moose in it.

I still have this mission active, it is actually one of few I still have incomplete on Layton Lake. Tried it only few times by going into area and calling moose, but there was none there, so I left. Will try when no other missions left to do

Just bought the game today. I hope that for a released game they fix these documented bugs soon. 1 year anniversary and lots of sales bringing many new players. :WillsBinoculars:

I found out western part of mission area is visited by moose more often. I shot two bulls already, missed heart by inch in both cases. Spent entire day hunting around to remove hunting pressure in the area, now back hoping to find another bull

Lured two bulls into mission area, hit one in the heart. Score 787! Second one ran away and never came back. Hunting pressure I guess. Until next night...

Hi Guys.... I restart hunting after a 3 Month break and i see you still fix alot of the buggy quests ( or to difficult quests) ... But THIS Doc#20 is already like in the past.... do you still forgott to update ??
In same way like the other quests my suggestions:
- For a Heart shot allow ALL Weapons ( Not Bow only)
OR
- For a Bow Kill not limmit to Heart ... Allow hole body.
*
For a small limit Area not require a GOLD Kill. Maby say 2-3 Kills but not limit Rating.
OR
For a GOLD Requirment simply open up Area Limit to hole Subsection or hole LatonLake.

Again my result.... I like difficult quests that take 1-2 Hrs and some trys... But THIS is too much !

I finally did it! Took me several restarts and rests, and several attempts to lure moose in from west of mission area

This particular level 4 bull was very cautious and did not want to move across open fields, instead returning back west, so I finally managed to lure him to the north of mission area and then into the area (unless it was different one, hard to say since I've seen tracks of at least two of the same weight range).

Even though I was luring this moose, at was the bull who stalked me at the end when I decided to come back north thinking moose did not follow again. We nearly bumped into each other. Hopefully, my bow was quick and precise, heart shot from slighly less than 9 meters!

Even better, this turned out to be my 50th moose! So in addition of completing DOC #20, I also got Steam achievement 'Long Live the King'

I just got this mission activated and it looks like a total nightmare. I have only shot one moose with a bow and that was an accident as it was lying down and I mistook it for a deer, because I couldn't see it well and couldn't spot it (like a true hunter, LOL - "I thought it was a moose" when shooting your friend's hunting dog).

Anyway, my question is whether I should get the biggest arrows first before trying this mission (I already have the biggest bow). Considering how hard it is to get a heart shot, would the big arrows offer a significant advantage?

Yes the bigger arrows will help with penetration.

The mission is not that hard in reality, the moose are just fairly scarce. Like others have stated they are on the west side of the fairly small mission area. All of the moose i saw while doing the mission were of decent size, 3's and 4's the problem is getting the heart shot and the animal being a gold.

I used 600gr arrows and CB-70 bow with 5-pin sight. Before going after bull, I visited shooting range in Hirsh to test a bow, then went back to Layton to practice on moose cow outside mission area.

The best way is to let them come really close, under 30 or even 20 meters. Then aim for a heart - at such distance arrow will hit area above yellow pin but below a pin above yellow.

Watch centering, I missed a heart twice because arrow went to the left as I was paying too much attention to vertical aiming and missed pin tip going a bit sideway
