Is prone hunting good? Bow question
Hello, i actually never tried to prone and then crawl up to Animals - does that work without making to much sound? Also is the prone shooting with the Bow worth it? I mean you can lure animals near enough while being crouched to shoot them and the aiming is easier as far as i could see.
Thanks for the tips !

I think you answered your own question lol.
Only time I prone is on rocks, animals seem to walk right past and not notice you.
Also I have tried prone animals and either

1 Grass is to dense so I lose orientation.

2 I cannot be bothered cause its too slow for me.

Im not bashing it, for some its rewarding im sure and worth trying it out, it's just not for me.

FYI....your sights won't work when you are prone so even if you upgrade to this skill, you will need to practice for ages to get good at hunting in this position.

I was more thinking about being prone and crawl up to drinking / resting animals. But yeah, the no aim mode is probably more hurt than good.

Thanks for the answers

go somewhere with deer hanging around, kneel down in a bush or small tree with almost no leaves on it, and spam the calling lures, one after the other. Your visibility can be either a flat line, or a small minus sign, which means, nothing sees you, until it stands right before you. There you can easily call, shoot, call shoot. The game doesn't flee that far, because of the low-noise bow. But beware, the tiniest deer, spooked infront of you, might just "flee" over your body, which costs you 1/3 or 1/4 or your heatlh ;-)

Free hunting hint: Go for buffalos with the biggest rifle and tipped ammo, follow them and shoot the heard down, one after the other. When one charges you, just strafe to the side, in fast running mode, the charging buffalo can't change direction on the last 50 meters, you won't get hit. Farely easy. You and a buffalo, on a free field - it has no chance hitting you. Unless you are trapped somewhere, or foolish enough to crouch or go prone.

I know that sitting and luring tactic, but i wanted to know some stuff about the prone crawling.

Yeah, i use the 7mm and i find it rather boring running behind buffalos till you catch up and kill them.
I'd rather sneak up on resting places in the night with a bow and prey on the animals there.

Not sure with the bow, I never bothered with the prone perk. It works great with the 30-30 and 45-70 though.

I got the prone perk for the bow. you don't need it. It's just more convenient shooting without standing up. I lost maybe 10-20% of deer, because I went from prone to kneeling and messed up the buttons, so it ran away... If you love bow hunting, then get the perk. It is less stressful. But there will be a higher chance, that whatever you just shot, especially a Moose, will stomp over you. At least that's what I experienced....

oh, one more thing: you can't aim properly with the bow-prone perk ! you'll only hit what's 1-2m right in front of you. But since the gras usually prevents you from seeing farther anyway, not so much difference. But you can actually miss a deer 3m in front of you, most annoying...
