If both of you do not have all the outposts unlocked, you should take turns hosting the game as the host is the only person who can unlock until the patch that they are shooting for next week to release.
Both of you want to have each other in your Steam friends list.
The person that is going to host the game will start the game.
In the main menu select multiplayer.
Setup the game you want, and start it.
Go into Steam and right click on your friend.
Select invite to game. Make sure your friend is not in a game first.
Your friend should get a button/message show up in a chat window spawned by Steam.
That person should click on it and Steam will launch the game and they will load into it.
When in game, each of you should open the map and see if you can see each other. The other person should show up as a green circle. If you do not see each other, you will want to go to the same outpost so you can get close enough to each other so to show up on the map. Once you see each other on the map, you don’t need to be close anymore if you don’t want to. There is a bug that if you both don’t show up on the map the person that is not hosting won’t get any cash or XP. I hope there is a fix to this in the next patch.
There is a bug that is making some people not able to open their HunterMate if they join the game. When my brother and I play. If he hosts, I can use my HunterMate; and if I host, he can’t.
we got in but that was via another friend who added us so yeh. it was the outpost thing..
thanks again
