Introducing the Call of the Wild Wiki!
I suppose now's as good a time as any to introduce what I've been working on for the last few weeks. The game has desperately needed a wiki, as the in-game information is either presented poorly or not at all, and Riskz, Hivmnd and I have all collaborated on creating the wiki for Call of the Wild.

http://thehunter-cotw.wikia.com/wiki/TheHunter:_COTW_Wiki

The wik is far from finished, and we need help. I have a full time job and a full time child, and my available time to buckle down and pound out pages is limited at best, and it's not fair for me to expect Riskz and Hivmnd to do everything.

By the end of the night, I'm going to have a to-do list put together so that if people want to help, they can be assigned tasks so we're not tackling the thing willy-nilly. If you'd like to help us continue to flesh out the wiki, please post here or shoot me a friend invite!

Before diving in and making edits, please check with either myself or Riskz. We'd like to have some modicum of control over the process so that we can ensure quality content for the users. Please note that this list can expand at any time.

Wiki says that Rhino costs 24000 but the reality in game is much more cruel:) It costs 48000, which in my opinion is way too much.

There is a .44 Wild Cat Magnum - what is that - future addon?
The wild cat is a bonus item like the Empress 7mm or the .270 warden, a reskin. Though for the life of me I can't remember what it came from.

Nice work so far. I'm sure it'll be great once all the pages get filled.

Looks awsome. Are you still accepting photos for the wiki? Can they still be posted on the first pinned topic? I have some beauties.

Is the management of this wiki still working on this project? I would expect it to be more filled in by this point...

It sort of got put on the backburner for bit. I wasn't getting information from the devs like I was promised, and I didn't have hours and hours each day to track down info in the game to put it up. In addition, there was only like 2 people working on it; nobody wanted to contribute, and it got old quick being one of the only people adding to the site.

Not to bust your chops, but I think you crushed the wiki from the first post stating that you wanted to be the gatekeeper for the project and encouraged others not to edit themselves.

Many will enjoy the game, but I'd say only about only about one in every few hundred would even bother to edit a wiki. Even though a wiki would be super handy, gathering appropriate information requires a lot of effort and many just will not go through all that. By wanting to be gatekeeper, you've narrowed that amount down even more most likely.

Quite frankly, I'd rather it be loaded to the brim with incorrect information. At least that way many will insist on correcting it. (Hence, progress will be made)

Wiki's should be open source and self regulated.

Edit: the ( ) bit.

Not once did I ever encourage people to not edit themselves. In the beginning, we had a list of critical stuff that needed to get done before we started working on non-essential pages. If people took that to mean 'don't edit anything' then that's on them.

We made several casting calls to see if people wanted to help build and edit pages, and all attempts were met with silence.

I absolutely disagree. If you, as a new player, go onto a wiki for the game you just started playing and it's loaded to the brim with erroneous, poorly written pap, you're not going to stick around and read more, and you certainly aren't going to sit down and edit pages. And to head it off at the pass, you don't speak for everyone so whether you would do that is irrelevant.[/quote]

Wiki's should be open source and self regulated.
Agreed, but they don't automatically start out that way. You have to rigidly guide it down the right path for a bit before it can organically sustain itself.

Regardless, I don't have the time to handhold people and I certainly don't have the time to pick apart the inner workings of the game, especially if I'm not going to get the developer support and insight that I was promised, so if people want to do half-assed edits and page builds, be my guest.
