Before diving in and making edits, please check with either myself or Riskz. We'd like to have some modicum of control over the process so that we can ensure quality content for the users. Please note that this list can expand at any time.
There is a .44 Wild Cat Magnum - what is that - future addon?
Not to bust your chops, but I think you crushed the wiki from the first post stating that you wanted to be the gatekeeper for the project and encouraged others not to edit themselves.
Many will enjoy the game, but I'd say only about only about one in every few hundred would even bother to edit a wiki. Even though a wiki would be super handy, gathering appropriate information requires a lot of effort and many just will not go through all that. By wanting to be gatekeeper, you've narrowed that amount down even more most likely.
Quite frankly, I'd rather it be loaded to the brim with incorrect information. At least that way many will insist on correcting it. (Hence, progress will be made)
Wiki's should be open source and self regulated.
Edit: the ( ) bit.
We made several casting calls to see if people wanted to help build and edit pages, and all attempts were met with silence.
I absolutely disagree. If you, as a new player, go onto a wiki for the game you just started playing and it's loaded to the brim with erroneous, poorly written pap, you're not going to stick around and read more, and you certainly aren't going to sit down and edit pages. And to head it off at the pass, you don't speak for everyone so whether you would do that is irrelevant.[/quote]
Agreed, but they don't automatically start out that way. You have to rigidly guide it down the right path for a bit before it can organically sustain itself.
Regardless, I don't have the time to handhold people and I certainly don't have the time to pick apart the inner workings of the game, especially if I'm not going to get the developer support and insight that I was promised, so if people want to do half-assed edits and page builds, be my guest.
