Where to find red deer

Is it just me not hunting trhe right areas, or are red deer far more scarce than the other species? Where do you guys find them?

i've killed at least one and seen another where the flat open areas such as the the west side of the map in the straw fields or the mountain areas like the southwest. but you tend to find them more in the northern map of the map due to more mountains over there aswell as being a higher level area.

Mullerwald, Jonsdorf, and Bohndorf are the best places I have found to hunt Red Deer.

The north of the map is the way to go. However, lately I've shot 3 red deer (seperate game sessions) in Rathenfeld. Anyone else finding red deer over there?!

Male red deer are scattered around the north of the map and if you are lucky herds of females too. The best chance to find these herds of females is in the south-west canyon with the small lake within it. In this area there are lots of red deer!

Bohndorf neer lakes you can find huge herds of them sometimes.i videod them there.

imho, west and south of Bohndorf for the most consistent, particularly around Bohndorf Hill (and the little lake on its eastern side aka: Fleischers Hut) and back towards the canyon. I've shot multiple Gold through there too. In a thread recently called "Track 'em, Stack 'em and Whack 'em" I had a whole lot of reds climbing a hill and the male in the gully below. Got the lot. :)

@Mr Caldavera - I have found several large herds on the north western side of Ratherrfield so no surprise they are there. There is a bino image in my screenies of at least 30+.

@Mr Caldavera - I have found several large herds on the north western side of Ratherrfield so no surprise they are there. There is a bino image in my screenies of at least 30+.

Interesting. I found my first red deer in Rathenfeld after 130+ hours of playing. I was convinced only roes and fallows occupy the area. Maybe it has to do with me changing tactics. At first I walked from outpost to outpost whereas now I tend to scout more in one area. Or it was just bad luck, who knows.

I suppose it's a bit like my preference for Bohndorf. It's self fulfilling because that's where I usually go. Other places, and they are obviously quite numerous, are found when looking for other species and it just widens the scope a bit I think.

Like today, 3 places I found groups of Elk males of 3-5 while looking for other species - miles and miles apart. That kind of grouping used to be somewhat isolated in TCH and perhaps there's a bit of legacy thinking happening here too.

Thanks guys! Found a huge herd in East Mullerwald, looked like about 20 does and a handful of males. Got my albino there too!
