Animal print icon on Huntermate?

As per title, now & again a circular animal track icon is displayed on my HM's screen - looks like a deer or boar hoof/trotter print. Usually (but not exclusively) it's displayed near a hunting structure but can crop up pretty much anywhere.

I have no idea what this icon signifies - my best guess is that it's an are of some level of species activity. Can anyone enlighten me?

From your description I guess it is the icon that appears when you spot an animal through binoculars. It marks the spot of a spotted animal.

It is either what Danii said (if it looks like a boar in a circle) or if it is a deer track in a circle it is a vestige of the tutorial (assuming you have it off.) It pops up when the tutorial is left on and the guy in layton or the woman in the eu one says, "I think there's a track nearby."

Now I think about it, it's more than likely the waypoint I've put down (as per fotg 123) - I know that the spotting icon is the pig in the crosshairs but I was just stumped by the track icon. Dunno if it's related to the tutorial but I'll turn that off and see if it gets rid of it. It's not a gamebreaker if that's what it is (far from it), I was just stumped as to its function.
