Elk vs Arrow?

....using the first bow, and am about to unlock the second 3 pin sight when I encountered the most fierce beast in the woods. This male "easy" roosevelt elk has been renamed Iron Elk. Ove the course of 3 hours of intense tracking, stalking, and 4 arrows, this elk bested me. I was using the regular arrows (still aint got the heavy ones yet.) 420 grain I think. I take it elk require the bigger arrows or the high-end bow? I've even got the archery perk that gives your arrows more damage, penetration and power. :(

Dude was at 0-25% health for most of that. He refused to just lay down and die.

Iron Elk lives on, he chews grass and laughs at arrows, and he's all outta grass.

I took a roosevelt with a 420g and the 60lb bow, it was a decent long track of about 300m or so, but he bled out just fine from one arrow.

Was his health continuing to drop, or did it freeze around 25%? There's currently a bug that can cause animals to stop losing health from bleeding when they drop to 25% health.

Ive killed elk before, and I KNOW I hit the vitals. Vital blood, and good aim. I had no idea about that bug, as I havn't experienced it. Very good to know. Next time I'll stop tracking. I literally crossed the map chasing him, waiting until he forgot about me. Every trick in the dang book.

...I didn't realized there was a bug however.

I don't know what triggers the bug since I experienced it for the first time today, but it's definitely not just me. See the Reddit post below for another example:

My guess is that this is something from the most recent patch.

Good eye, I agree, this hasn't happened until the latest patch. Good to know EW keeps up their long standing tradition of bugs and patches with more bugs. *sigh.*

I used the original bow with the first ammo type. shot an Elk in the heart from 70 meters it died instantly. cough brag cough. :P but yeah some bugs might end the fun for us once in awhile. they have a lot to work on. the list is HUGE.

i would imagine they are too busy working on putting tents and tree stands in game (two most popular things in classic) to worry about little things like underdeveloped game and bugs any bets they will sell tent in one DL 30$ then a tree stand in one? 30$.....

i not played this game a lot since update but i also noticed 2 animals who randomly stopped bleeding , from vital hits , when i get chance and can , i shot it till its dead
