Killing moose with .243?
So I just started on the lake district and I have found a couple moose. I always aim for the Thoracic Spine but I can't seem to drop them. Does the gun not have enough penetration or am I just shooting poor?

I've hit 'em in the brain and they bleed out rather quickly, but in my experience before you get the higher calibers that seems to be the best way to take them out. Even then, you don't always penetrate the skull to get to the brain, but then again my experience was with soft point rounds long before the recent ammo fixes. My advice, Polymer Tip rounds, aim for the brain pan.

You can kill 243 rifle bison one shot to spine and that is very easy shot.

If you can get a front center shot that's your best option. It has plenty of penetration for a heart shot that way with no risk of cranial deflection.

The best way I've found using the small caliber is to shoot from behind at the base of the skull, even the center of the neck there will drop them.

I think I just needed polymer tipped bullets lol.
