The flesh wounds after good shot placement are another problem wich MIGHT be related to bad shooting on my side ;-) But it happened several times that deadly wounded animals (as described above) where running way to long distances - and I still think that needs more tweaking.
It may well be you're expecting certain outcomes due to a shooting preference and bad habits have crept in. eg: If you're always double lung and not heart, lower your scope a touch.
Better yet, try spine shots. If you ARE as accurate as you think you are, no more chasing - ever.
I'm certainly not arguing game is broke, and people can even argue that's the cause for "bad shooting". They just better hope EW doesn't "fix" it because when they do the excuses on offer are going to get a bit thin on the ground.
And here's me, just lost a potential Diamond Mythical Red on a night shoot that pulled a 788 with 20% consec' harvest and a 200m track with 0% quick kill.
Yep, I hit it badly, rushed shot. Damn game. Devs should fix it.
Headshots are the worst when it comes to score, hunters don't go for the head if they want trophies.
I shot exactly 812 Animals in Classic, and yes I chased some of them due to bad shooting. But not the majority like in CotW. I dont care about short chases, thats why I prefer the double lung shot where the animal might run for 100m or so - fine with that.
In CotW the same "Blattschuss" shot placement results in way longer chases every time, but maybe just on my copy of the game if I read most of the comments correctly ;-)
Keep your sniping in game, not here.
Silky, don't bother. Some people always complain and some always argue. You can't make a comment that won't get sniped.
Foxes and Roe where pretty easy pre patch 1.3, and were still dropping nearly instantly when hit by a .243 - no surprise there... But I encountered a gang of wild boars on Hirschfelden and where abled to shoot at 3 of them. Three well placed shots and SURPRISE ! They were going down within 20 - 100 meters when hit by a .270 Poly Tip through both lungs.
Hit a female Moose with the 7mm Mag later on, and chased it for 270 meters - shot only got through the shoulder blade and one lung due to bad angle when shooting. But it was NOT fleeing through a kilometer of undergrowth and hilly landscape after beeing hit by a high powered rifle...
That is what I was expecting in the first place after playing TheHunter for a year.
