Yeah it allows you to zero your rifle on the fly with an active ability (F) key that will set it your zero in point to 75m and 150m. That is with 1 skill point in it for close range. I do not have the 2nd skill point in it for long range. The second point might do 250m and 350m?

This is good for when you are taking a 150m shot you zero in on 150m and where the crosshair is located is where the gun will fire ( if the gun is 100% accuracy ) if not you could get a little leeway either direction. The same goes for the 75m shot.

I believe the first rifle is zeroed at 150 as standard, so 1st skill point lets you be more accurate at 75 m and 2nd is 300m (for rifles)

I had no idea what zeroing is when I go that skill so I spent some time on google to figure it out.

Basically when you adjust a scope you pick a range say 150m then adjust your scope to hit the target perfectly. Doing so means your gun will be shooting sligtly up to account for gravity.. so if you try hitting a target at 75m with a gun adjusted for 150m your bullet will hit slightly higher than the crossair.

The skill basically allows you to toggle between 2-3 different adjustments so you can make more precise shots. Shooting a red fox at 300m with the default 150m zero would be a bit of a challenge, the bullet risks hitting the ground or lower than expected.

Pretty useful for long range vital shots...

Have any rl shooters not wondered just how these balistics work? In real life if you zero a .243 at about 75ms it will be damn close at 200 also..... i must admit the zero sysyem seems somewhat daft if we actualy have any real simulation of balistics going on (my guess is we actualy dont we simple have a bit of dropoff)
