Same question here... Was just bow hunting and want a new rifle.. is it worth buying .270 or should i safe for some special rifles? Is it possible to have a bow and 2 rifless in inventory?

Honestly all guns are pretty good at long distance. The main factor here is caliber vs the animal you are hunting and also the type of bullets you use vs the distance.

The .223 is a fox/coyote/roe deer gun... it's excellent at long range vs the starter gun. It's a small caliber, so anything bigger than those preys is not a good idea.

The .270 is a deer hunting gun, it works very well long range. It's the weapon of choice for all types of bigger deer (white tail, red deer, black tail, fallow).

The 7mm would be the next step up. This one is good for bear, moose, elk. It works on bison, but for bison you'll want a .338.

.338 is the bison gun. Works well on moose/bear/elk too. This is the top gun for range.

The other two guns are mostly deer guns, better suited for shorter range but with more stopping power than the .270.

I usually carry the .223, .270 and 7mm on me and I can pretty much get all I want with those.

Okay, thanks for your help!

I heared the 30-30 is a nice allround gun which can take down a lot of animals... isnt it better to take a 30-30, bow andd .338?

The 7mm does very good job for bisons. I usually insta kill them with one shot, to the broke back spine... they literally drop on the spot. For me bisons are the easiest hunt and money making. I have money that i could buy 3 x .338, but yet had not bought it because do not have a need for it. But yeah, .338 is the best gun in the game.

30-30 is a deer gun.. So anything bigger or smaller it won't do so good.

Then again everything drops 1 shot with a spine shot but you usually don't get the integrity bonus when you do spine shots from what I've seen. I go for heart/lung shots and the 7mm kills bisons but they bleed out quite a bit before dropping if you only shoot them once with it.

I killed all animals in game with the .243 before getting any gun upgrades so ultimately, everything is possible :)

How do you carry 3 weapons with you plus calls plus a scope when your weight limit is 23 pounds? Each of those weapons alone are over 7 pounds each, right?

I use 270. Psg with 8x zoom for all animals i can easy kill bisons the was closer than 150m with 2 shoots possible is one in chest for lung hit the maximal run 40 meter and fall down.

My secondary is a double barrel shotgun later the pumpgun with kal 12/70 slug. It has enough stoppingpower to hold an angry elephant away its my protection for mad bisons. I hope the patch dragon breath ammo so i can burn the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bisons :D

But remeber the arent a best gun the gun is only so good like the owner it use. I have kill bisons only with 243. Its hard but u can one hit them.

Integrity bonus is all about which gun is used for certain animal, not for the body parts you hit. You have to use a right gun for right animal then will get 100% integrity. 7mm is 3rd level rifle, meaning you get integrity on things like red deer, moose etc... but not fox, coyotes etc.

That is why with 7mm, on bison i go for broke back spine, quite easy to hit, and it goes down right away.

Nah they're all 3-4 pounds if I remember right. I carry a .223, .243, .270 and 7mm currently. I don't have many callers though, just the roe deer one, the blat one and the fox one, the binoculars and bullets. I don't carry any scents or anything other than that.

I know there's a bug in the game where imperial vs metric is bugged, you need to use imperial to carry the real limit.

EDIT:

.223 is 3 pounds
.243 is 3 pounds
.270 is 4 pounds
7mm is 5 pounds

That leaves 5 pounds in my 20 pounds bag for the rest of the stuff I carry.

That's not my experience, I've had 100% and 0% on the same animal type with the same gun on several occasions. Hitting the head for example will usually grant 0% whatever gun you use because you are destroying the trophy. Using the right gun ALLOWS 100% integrity shot, but does not guarantee it.

I have the expanded backpack for more room. But if I carry 2 callers, binoculars and the 7mm rifle with one scope I can't even add the bow.
The .243 weighs 7.72 pounds. The .270 weighs 8.82 pounds. The 7mm weighs 9.92 pounds. A scope is 2.2 pounds. Binoculars is 2.2 pounds. Do the math you cannot carry 2 rifles + scope + callers + binoculars with a 23 pound limit.

Edit: Are you saying with metric you can carry more?
Edit: the above weights are correct in my game except scopes are 1.1 lbs.

I would say that the best one is the one that does not cause the game to crash randomly.
