Red Fox Bow Hunting
Alright people, someone please help me out.
I've done everything I can to hunt these foxes to complete one of the missions. Primarily the bow hunting quest that is given to you at an early part in the game.

I've been trying my best using all my knowledge to kill these foxes, but so far I've had no luck.
I've found a feeding place for the foxes, and always go there at night time around 1-2 am.
I lay down on a rock or the side of the street to have an easy time scouting out where they are when I hear movement or their terrifying screamer yelps.

Now, that part is easy.
But the second I try to shoot them, they're already gone.
It seems like it's impossible to just lay there and shoot them.

And yes, I've tried running. They're always faster, and won't stop running.

Anyone know some easy tricks to get around doing this? Otherwise I won't be able to continue questing.

It's just trial and error. I'm on the same mission right now and I haven't heard a single call in hours. Spreeburg just doesn't like us.

I purchased and used the caller for Coyote/Fox. They are sneaky, he kept to the bushes and I could not get a shot had to drag him to an open area. It took a couple of tries but if you don't get a shot and the fox runs wait in a good position and call him back. I called mine back 3 times until I could get a clean shot.

So it's basically, try over and over again.

I tried that mission yesterday, dont know if you use KB&mouse, too, but i gave it up since i could not sneak to the fox properly, as it is possible with the controller.
The wind was perfect and i came very close, but it was impossible to sneak close enough.
Sure i could wait somewhere silently for hours hoping he is coming its way....but well....

A guy on youtube just ran and followed a trail, the fox couldn't escape fast enough. I tried it with the same unrealistic style after an hour of luring and waiting where nothing happend. Just as i ran along his trail, he came back his way and crossed me. Bow kill with 3 meters.

Spreeburg is a difficult place for this mission...

Call them to you and don't move. Maybe sit in a bush, as that supposedly adds camouflage. And let them get as close as you dare, that bow spreads like a firehose, even at short range!

Holy hell, hardest animal to hunt with the bow. Just got that mission and finished it. Things I learned:
They really....i mean really won't come if your scent is flowing towards them.
Head to the western portion past the lake at around 5am.
Find fox calls, get close enough for a warning, find pine tree with nice sight ranges and that makes you "invisible" (faint grey bar), wait till you have a close straight on shot, f$*king pray for a bit, harvest.

I took 3 hours to stalk one. About halfway through I was about 5 feet away in a shrub and shot a branch that was in my face, so pro tip: don't hit a branch. They are everywhere when you don't want them but god forbid you just want one.... good luck all!

I just started this about an hour ago. Got interrupted by a Bison herd that wandered nearby. I actually killed one, took four shots.

Then I went back to hunting fox:

So yeah, not easy.

I found this mission pretty easy, but I do have every bow skill unlocked. I have even been experimenting with the small game arrows on Fox,they work pretty good.

I think most people have trouble with Fox is they are to impatient. The average time to get a fox into a call from a solid downwind hide is about 10 min or so and most people just don't want to wait.

I just started Hirschfeldenand fox like coyote to be pretty easy to hunt.

For bow, make sure you are either well covered or up high (out of the line of sight). If you are up a good distance off the ground (in the woods), you don't need to lie down, you can crouch. Keep your movement to a minumum until they are close by (use really short/small movements to keep them in sight). Use the call sparingly. And since you are obviously going to want them to come in close (for the bow), remember one thing - regardless of whether or not you have/use zeroing - the sight is probably going to be zeroed for a bit further than the shot you are going to take at the distance you will shoot at the fox. AIM LOW.

And remember, you can't shoot a bow prone until you unlock that skill/perk, whichever it is.
