Flesh Wounds
Will flesh wounds eventually kill an animal? Just spent 3 hours getting nothing but flesh wounds with the pea shooter starter rifle, including hitting a roosevelt elk 4 times, and still didn't kill it.

It's possible but not likely. Honestly the first gun you get is mainly used for deer, if you are going for elk or anything else big you'll need to be fairly close and have good aim. Otherwise I would hold off on the bigger animals unless you enjoy tracking them down for a bit.

just look at your map, if there's no hunter pressure the animal won't die within a reasonable amount of time, if there's pressure i'd suggest sneaking behind it

i'm not an expert at this game, but i think animals do eventually bleed out, it just may take a very long time. i tracked one nearly halfway across the map and it's health did drop from 75%-50% to 50%-25%. i probably could have been quieter about it, to actually catch up to and kill it, but i'm more into exploration right now than hunting.

Ok, thanks guys. I will keep that hunter pressure in mind now. I was wondering why sometimes there was no pressure after shooting something.

depends on where you hit it. I have killed Bison, Elk, Moose, bear all with the .243 some of them take some tracking. Do not aim for the head they have very haed skulls
If the blood loss is very low then it will not die, If blood loss is low it will die soon enough.

not entirely correct because it depends on the species, had several coyotes that ran away with very low blood loss and still died after around 100 meters,
even the bigger ones will eventually die (even if no pressure is applied immediately)
but it takes insane amounts of time, had an moose bull last night i totally missed and only hit it in the fore leg (still had 75-100% life) and after 2 hours of hunting other stuff i've spotted the same bull with 0-25% life left
there were only very low splatters so they die by any hit but it doesn't really makes much sense to chase them like forever if it isn't a huge trophy animal^^

I've seen flesh wounds kills. It happens.

I just one shotted a bear. Just focus for vital hits. Thats the key.

The .243 will kill typically only kill Roe, Coyote and Fox with low and very low flesh wound bleeding. Maybe Blacktail and Sitka with medium bleed. It can kill everything with a vital shot though but even so you will end up chasing a Moose quite a long way before they down. Just be patient and don't take ♥♥♥♥♥♥ shots?

Bears are super easy. Just get them nervous. They always eventually turn away from you and stand up. Easy spine shots.

The only big game ive brought down so far was a lvl 5 hard red deer male he was at a water hole so i could sneak up really close to its front n put a round straight into its heart n dropped instantly.

ive killed more bear with my .243 than i have any other animal. i shoot a bear 2-3 times and its dead. i shot a moose 11 times! thats right ELEVEN times before it died. this game is just full of bugs. and RIDICULOUSLY HARD to advance in. ive played 50 hours and am only at level 6
Bugs Bunny Feb 25, 2017 @ 8:20pm
Oh the .243 will kill ALL animals in the game. I killed everything the game has to offer before I ever got a better gun using just that, including bison, moose, bear, rosevelt elk, red deer, etc. For the bigger game I would use 2-3-4 shots. Lots of running though!!!

I hit a fox in the tip of its ear, scored a flesh wound and it had a very low bleed rate. Damn thing died after it ran about 20 metres. So yea, flesh wounds in game can kill even if they wouldnt in real life.
