What are the best graphic settings?
I run everything at max but I dont think thats good, because the foilage seems 'flickering' with some squares etc. what are some graphic options that I should turn off or on for sure?

1. Turn off Heat Haze and Motion Blur.
2. Set everything else to Ultra.
3. Use NVIDIA DSR to downsample from a higher resolution (like 2560x1440 if you have a 1080p monitor)

How can I use DSR on COTW if the game isn't in the GeForce Experience list?

Edit: It was easiest than I thought, just applied the DRS, and works fine :D

How about letting me in on it? I can't figure it out either lol. Do I go into the game first, or?

Foggy, [IMO] Its easier to set in your Nvidia Control Panel rather than geforce experience. If you have an AMD model, I'm not sure how.

Got it figured out, I did like you said digdug, and activated the DSR in the control panel, then bumped up the rez in the game to 2560x1440. Looks FAR better, not as aliased as the standard Ultra settings at 1920x1080. Thanks!

But still this game needs some better antialiasing. DSR is nice but even 2560x1440 cuts my FPS from 50 to 30-35 ( gtx 1060 here).
I really dont understand how can ppl play at 1080p with all that "shimmering and flickering" in distance. You cant even see if there is animal or it is just some flickering foliage.

1060 doesn't cut it for those resolutions. I have a 1080 Ti, I have it on 3325x1871, highest settings and get a solid 60fps.

Are you sure that shimmering effect is the product of a relatively low resolution?

I stopped playing cause of the shimmering and the flickering. Its a really wonderful game but has the worst anti-aliasing I have ever experienced in a game. I play on a 1080p monitor with a 980 and alot of people I know have the same issue, I tried DSR but that only helped a little.

The "best" graphics settings for one person may not work for another person, they may actually be horrible settings for another person because not every computer is exactly the same.
For hunting games in general you usually want to keep the foliage (trees, bushes, grass, etc) settings low and draw distance settings high so it allows you to see very far.
Hunting games are not very hard for any video card to run because there usually isn't a lot of motion for the card to render since...it's hunting. You're sitting fairly still for hours waiting for something in the background, an animal, to move and catch your eye. Hunting games are not anywhere near as demanding as an FPS or RPG game.
The flickering and shimmering has to do with the antialiasing setting. Change to FXAA only and it should go away.
Turning on all graphics settings makes more foliage visible as well as more fog. If you like it, go for it. If not, turn scene complexity to medium and volumetric fog off.

I'm going to have to experiment with this later DSR... It really makes the game look a lot better than 1080p?
You can try using ReShade as well. It has FXAA and SMAA that can stack with whatever AA you use (Nvidia etc. etc.). Disable the in-game AA and stack Nvidia's with Reshade and you might gain a little FPS with better AA too.
