Some tips on .223 and .243 at northern reserve
So I bought .223 Docent and tested it on smallest game of Pacific Northwest. If you hunt there, like I do, don't waste your money on this caliber. It's too weak for blacktails and even for coyote! They can survive 3 hits and run away. Moreover, .243 polymer is ethical for both animals and extremely effective. It explodes coyotes and penetrates through both lungs of deer. I think description lies, actually polymer have more penetration than soft tip.

You are correct, Poly is the penetration round, it says in the text also, but ingame stats show wrong.
Also i got no problem killing either of those 2 animals with the 223 with 1 shot through the lungs, at least not with the poly ammo

Sounds like your aim is off.
I take them down with the 223 all day.

.223 is the ideal caliber for coyote, red fox, and other like sized game. Even if it is ethical for .243 you will find higher integrity with .223.

Don't know what your problem with the .223 is, i rather like it and find the low recoil with a 6 round mag great for taking down heards of Roe deer. it's a good rifle, you're just a ♥♥♥♥ shot.

Also i've had no trouble killing anything using the standard .223 ammo, only time i don't drop what ever i shoot at is if i derp the shot and that's not the guns fault.

It gives you higher than 100%? Or you mean rifle score? .243 gives about 40-55 per kill

Roe deer? Try to read next time. I mentioned Pacific Northwest and specific animals. My aim is ok, it's just a weak weapon, much worse than .243

I never said I can't kill a deer or coyote with it. The problem is it lacks power to drop them on a spot reliably.

It drops coyote just fine, I"ve never had to shoot them more than once. Deer on the other hand...I have dropped them in 1 shot, but it's very inconsistent for me. I just stuck to the 243 for deer and 223 for coyote.

Usually I shoot coyote from a very far distance, mostly from the other side of the lakes. Last coyote I shot with .223 survived 2 or 3 hits and run away. I found him ofcourse, but have to walk pretty long distance. On the other hand, .243 polymer gives you the same integrity bonus, but reliably drops them where they stand, and saves you a lot of time tracking. 5 or 6 bullets load makes no difference, I never make more than 3 shots, only single shot 99.9% of time. Thus, .223 is useless at Pacific Northwest, thats my point.

Ofcourse you can carry .223 if you like, but it does not bring any benefit. Only extra steps to switch weapons. I use .270 for larger game, and .243 for deer/coyote. Carrying 3 rifles sounds like an overkill to me.
