If they don't have anti-cheat but think of adding it I hope they choose BattlEye - https://www.battleye.com/ That's the anti-cheat Rainbow Six Siege is using now and its doing a awesome good job keeping the cheaters out, but that game didn't had BattlEye right from the start, it used FairFight anti-cheat at launch and the game got plagued with cheaters, so many that it completely destroyed the game, then they got rid of it and replaced it for BattlEye and you can now check their forums, all good.
Also don't believe those that say they got banned by this anti-cheat unfairly for doing nothing, that's what they always say, I remember seeing even a guy making a very constructive thread where he was very kindly trying to proof his innocent of his VAC ban here on Steam and then a Valve employee post the ban was deserved and he started laughing and even said "it was worth a try" lol.
So I hope they take this very serious and hopefully they go for BattlEye, cheaters hate it because its so effective ;)
I mean, is a single-player who has infinite ammo/health a problem, etc?
There is more than just luck that can get you nice trophies, first of all your skill as a hunter and patience is important to get the most out of the game, also higher scoring animals should be much easier to scare and not alone, then it adds extra difficulty for the player if he just gonna shoot the moment he sees a target or wait if there's another close by. Then choices and patience come into play and how well you can spot animals.
Sure luck helps but not on the long run ;)
As a long time player of thehunter classic { nearly 8 years } yes there is a lot of luck involved but there are times when you have to put a lot of hours and patience into the game to get a good scoring animal as noobzero said
