This. Your shot might be 100% on; but theres a random off-set which means the arrow could go slightly off.
It's quite annoying when trying to do the Fox Hunting mission. I've missed four in a row because of the offset! (I'm primarily a bow hunter in Classic so i keep expecting it to hit where I aim :p)
To the OP I've been using the tip of the sight for aiming, it seems to be fairly accurate but it's hard to know the distance it's zeroed at especially with no zero range in the game. I think I will try the tree method also that was mentioned above to see what point of aim point of impact is.
The offset is still very hard after 35meters.. anything up to 30 meters is okay and it kinda hits the lungs if they stand broad to you. BUT if you try to hit them from 38 meters and up you are lucky if you even hit the roe deer AT ALL if its standing with not perfect angle.
Even up to 30 meters you have a fair chance to miss if the deer is directly facing you and you try to go for the heart.
The arrowdrop gets really hard to estimate after 30 meters too.
i tried the low weight arrows.. their drop is more flat but you cant even penetrate the shoulder of a 19kg roe deer. (flesh wound very low bleed.)
im at 4800 bow skill now and the bow that has 70 instead of 60 pound (doesnt sound like much difference) costs 7300.. damn grind. the heavy arrows will have a much bigger drop but i think no human will ever unlock those.
sneaking and luring up to 30 meters isnt fun and nearly impossible when the prey cant be lured or has a difficulty of >6. even with the stealth skills in rain/fog/dense bushes.
the bows do the same bang like any gun. they will run the same distance after they get spooked of your bowshot as if you shot with .270 rifle.
Ha! I found that out, was aiming at a bull elk, fired, and dropped the bull elk that was right behind it due ti the wind
