Why bother with other weapons? 1) Variety, I've bought weapons on THC that filled roles I already had filled simply because I like them and
2) The real reason, a .270, .300, or .308 is going to take down a moose much more effectively than a .243.
You could use unethical weapons in the classic as well. While in classic it gave you disqualified score, here it will affect the integrity, which affects the score.
Giving you a score penalty is a good solution as it still allows you to hunt whatever you feel like(for a minor cost in points) but still allows them to stretch the content out and give you fresh gear to look forward to over time.
