Hands down a far far superior product!
Seriously do not be worried!
A lot of players hated Cabela's hunting games (with reasons that I completely agree with) because they were way too arcade and not simulator.
Well frankly, if you have an open mind, you're not a The Hunter original fanboy, you should at least one day try out Cabela's Big game hunter Pro Hunts (or for sake of comparison, watch some youtube videos). It's definitively not your Cabela's typical game. Really. In fact, even with it's dreaded savegame bug, it has a Steam review score of 75% (598 evaluations).
I'm not at all trying to diminuish COTW, on the contrary, but when I first heard about the Hunter COTW and looked at videos, it did remind me a lot about Cabela's Big game hunter Pro Hunts.
Of course, all this is based on my impression of gameplay videos of COTW since I don't own the game yet, while I did play a lot with Cabela's Big game hunter Pro Hunts.
Both features similar gameplay:
- One time payment
- Large hunting reserves/areas
- Many animals to hunt
- Excellent ambient and animal sounds
- Earning money/levels to unlock many weapons and accessories
- Nice graphics (ok The Hunter's COTW are nicer, but it's more recent)
- Both game seems to have a similar mix of a light simulator/slight arcadish feel.
Sure, when COTW get patched to solve it's many early form bugs, it should be a superior product. It has more advanced tracking options, nicer graphics, multiplayer, etc
I'm just trying to say that for me, based on only Youtube Gameplays videos and my own experience playing with The Hunter original AND Cabela's Big game hunter Pro Hunts, I'm under impression that COTW is more closer to Cabela's Big game hunter Pro Hunts than it is of The Hunter original.
Of course, my impression might change when patch get released and on actual COTW gameplay when I'll get the game.
