strategies become less and less powerful as technology advances. ancient rome could never beat an army using modern weaponry no matter how good their strategies are for example.
thats called an ad homiem.
In the real world things are never so Black and White. Sure, at the surface level for room temperature IQ normies combat could seem simple. Researching, engineering, developing, construction, logistics, maintenance, deployment are all part of a stratagem. There is no magical button that wipes continents from existence without prior forethought, intent and preparation.
no strategies or thought was involved in their destruction.
strategy only works when your opponant is in striking distance.
just like how the earth could never over come a super massive black hole.
Chess is real and is a game. Superman isn't real. Walking on an ant is real, but it isn't a game. There are no rules and no goals when you just happen to step on an ant without even knowing it. There is no satisfaction, no contemplation, no appreciation of the preparation to the ant being walked on.
There is no such things as modern military trying to eradicate cavemen unless you're a ten year old playing with plastic toys.
Further than that, chess doesn't have to be compared to acts of destruction and dominance over an ennemy. You don't get out a bazooka to eradicate your aunt from existence, but you can get a chess board to enjoy time with your aunt.
A game of chess isn't time wasted. It's time enjoyed which your "one decisive strike" concept isn't. Getting people out of your way by pointing a gun at them is rather boring and counter productive if you're trying to socialise. Blowing your oppenent in one strike is not the reason people play chess. Games are a form of sharing and communion we could say.
May I add. You've come to this forum to socialise. You're trying to make a provocative point and then argue about it. You're playing a social game at this very moment and I'm pretty sure chess is much more interesting than arguing about wether it's better for superman to blow up the planet or sit down and play chess. That's just silly lmao.
